You have to appreciate Mr. Buffett's advice...he's that rather scarce capitalist of late: Somebody who can get (delightfully) filthy rich without breaking any laws or raping the working class or the nation's Treasury.

Would that the neocons and neoliberals were as intelligent - or at least as far-seeing. lolll...or as moral.

It's called integrity and principles. Something republicans are void of.

Another good man is Vanguard Funds - John Bogle. Men with principles and integrity. Few and far between in the rethug party.

But we have one in our candidate BARACK OBAMA.

Yes, an awesome video, really made me tear up. Just seeing all those people, there is such a powerful sense of hope and strength in those pictures. THIS is America the beautiful!

And how about that shot of him in the sunglasses - hot. He can call me "sweetie" anytime!

You guys don’t even realize Buffet’s game. If there is anything which can take away his millions, it is the power of the U.S. federal government. By shrewdly playing his cards which suggest possible support in donations to each candidate (Democrat AND Republican, it doesn’t matter to him; he has plenty of money!) he can better secure his investments from external threats, the same way “protection money” is paid to the Mafia to keep one’s own. Meanwhile, we little guys are left paying the taxes.

Yes. He shrewdly played his money-hungry cards when he gave 31 billion dollars away to charity.

Yes indeedy, those are the actions of a man who is only out for himself and only out to get more money.

He supports those he agrees with. He does not give equally to both sides. He has supported Schwartzenegger and Hagel, and the Democratic presidential nominees. With your every post, you are showing your ignorance of Warren Buffett. How about reading up a little before you make another idiotic remark?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:36 PM on 05/19/2008

You obviously don't know anything about Warren Buffet. There is plenty of reading material out there on this man. I suggest reading before ranting.

Hillary Clinton has been a shill for big corporations against workers and consumers for decades. An unthinking corporatist would make her his obvious choice. Buffett realizes that a strong consumer and country makes corporations stronger.

Read the actual article. Buffet backs the Democratic candidate as opposed to the Republican candidate -- not Obama versus Hillary. Big difference. Details matter.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:59 PM on 05/19/2008

True, but Obama has said in the past that Buffet has been an informal advisor.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:17 PM on 05/19/2008

kira181,

True, Mr Buffet would have backed either candidate. I am glad that he said that but happy it was Obama.

Hillary has worked and fought hard for every single vote that is hers and leads in votes.

Obama has given BIG speeches full of propaganda and has the media kissing his feet and anointing his win.

The wealthy image conscious elites and AA's cannot tell the difference. The hard working low-income voters can.

We can only have ONE.

We can have Hillary the public servant or Obama the little dictator.

It is ok to suggest that a candidate has a good touch with the common average man - I am one myself.

However, I've sort of been wondering at what stage the average Joe says to himself:

"If these very serious people like Buffet (a billionaire who says it is unfair that he pays less a share of his income in taxes than his secretary), go out of their way to endorse Barack Obama, could it be that there is something special about him that I have missed?"

I guess WarrenBuffet must have missed the picture of Obama on the Republican Committee's web site with the caption "Commander in Chief?".

Yes, Commander in Chief. A commander in chief who doesn't talk about 100 years wars. Imagine that.

Wealthy image conscious elites?
They are the ones that sell us whatever we buy.

Why not try selling us a President?
They are bound to benefit with a President in their pocket.

Hillary - they can't tell what to do.
She is Cherry Ames the Army Nurse. She will get us health care we can all afford.

Hillary is American Made.

Yes Hillary the publuc servant. Oh wait, except for when she was partner in a law firm. Oh and the time she sat on the board of directors for Wal-Mart but other than that she is a public servant.

And then there is Obama the community organizer. The state legislator. The man who graduated at the top of his class and could have gone on to make big money but instead chose to help out a community. What a corporate shill. Sheesh

The master of money making, who this neocon respects very much, gives much of his would be tax money to foundations. My guess is he trust the foundations to make much better use of it than the federal government (can't blame him there). Although i respect Mr Buffets money making skills, fortunately, i do not have to agree with his politics.

I think this is a big difference between liberals and conservatives. Conservatives can agree with some of the things a "celebrity" may say or do but liberals seem to think that when talking of "celebrities" we must worship everything out of their mouth and everything they do and thus let them do our thinking for us.

oh, brother!
if you are trying to imply that we think of Obama as a celebrity - grab a clue bud!

I live in So Cal - I have no love for celebs, believe me!
While I find some of them to be doing great Humanitarian work, for the most part, they're pretty lame!
Angelina Jolie is a great humanitarian - no one is trying to say she is perfect!

Get over your narrow views of groups of people outside of your little tunnel.
You don't know what liberals or intellectuals think about celebs, clearly.

I'm sure Warren Buffet has seen how Obama built, then managed his campaign and his finances and was impressed as we all are. That's a sign of leadership, and of how he would run his White House.

Now, if Congress would only follow the lead, we'll be in a better place. Get those profligate spending, progress blocking, Republican blockheads out in November!!

It is easy for Mr. Buffett to endorse Obama. Like most rich , he had no time to really research the character of this man. He was busy with his finances and , I am sure, didn't take time out to check the history of Obama. He endorsed him , because it seems political correct, he endorsed him , because Obama is an equal opportunist which Buffett confused with a go getter. Hillary is the tough person. Hillary ran and fought against all odds. And if Buffett was honest he would have to admit that Hillary Clinton is the fighter. The primary was thrown into Obama's lap by 99% of blacks
and by equal opportunity without substance. That's how Bush won, The presidency was given to him by the GOP and we know to where he lead this country. Obama won't be any different. Good Luck America. I used to consider Buffett the sexiest man , now , to me he is just a talker.

You don't know what you're talking about. Buffett is nothing "like most rich" and is well aware of most big issues and the political world, way more than you and me. And although he is a Democrat, he doesn't always go down the party line. He supported Schwarzenegger (which I didn't agree with) when he first ran for Governor in the special election to replace Gray Davis.

Do some research before you flaunt your ignorance.

Oh and you too. Anyone who doesn't support Billary is an ignorant sexist searching for political correctness. Conversely, anyone who still supports BIllary after she/they basically showed their arses to the entire DNC is a blind, unmployed, man-hater who's probably overweight by a minimum of 50lbs.... -- and that includes Billary's man-folk.
