"How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" — the movie based on former Vanity Fair contributing editor Toby Young's memoir of the same name — is not due out until October, but the trailer appeared on YouTube two weeks ago.
Today's Page Six reported that the film shows Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter in a particularly bad light:
Graydon Carter comes off worse than Anna Wintour did in "The Devil Wears Prada" in "How To Lose Friends and Alienate People." In the trailer for the upcoming movie based on Toby Young's book about his nightmarish time at Vanity Fair, Simon Pegg (playing the Young character) is seen meeting Carter (called "Clayton Harding" and played by Jeff Bridges) for the first time. The editor bristles over his casual red T-shirt: "What the hell are you wearing?" Chimes Pegg: "Do you like it? I've got an other one, actually." After he hands it over, "Harding" tosses the shirt out the window. Carter was traveling and couldn't be reached.
