Linsday Lohan Sued Over Allegedly Stolen Mink Coat

NEW YORK — A New York City college student has sued Lindsay Lohan, claiming the "Mean Girls" star took her mink coat without permission and kept it for more than two weeks.

Maria Markova said in a lawsuit filed Monday that Lohan, 21, took the $12,000 golden sheared mink coat while in the nightclub 1 Oak on Jan. 26.

The 22-year-old Markova's lawyer, Merrill Cohen, said Lohan had been sitting next to her client. Cohen said Markova next saw her coat on Lohan in a photo in OK! magazine.

Cohen said she called Lohan's representatives and demanded the return of the coat. She said Markova got the coat back Feb. 14.

Lohan's lawyer, Blair Berk, said it would be inappropriate to comment on the case.

Cohen said the lawsuit, filed in Manhattan's state Supreme Court, asks unspecified damages.

It doesn't matter what is is.....coat....hat....tire tool..etc. If it isn't yours don't take it. I can't believe all the defense I am hearing. There is no excuse for taking anything that doesn't belong to you That is stealing.

This looks like it may be possible that Markova borrowed Lohan the coat and now is trying to "shake her" for a percentage of the profits of the pic with said coat. That and the free publicity for herself. She deserves bad publicity if this is something like what she has done.

Could one of you explain why it is ok to kill plants for food and clothing but not animals.

Plants are just as much living things as animals are yet it is the most god-awful thing to kill an animal for food or clothing but it is ok to kill plants for the same thing.

Plants are no different than animals they are just easier to catch.

Coat was a gift, hand-me-down from Gramma. So, that does not equate to rich, and either way, because you can afford a fancy SUV, does that mean someone has the right to "borrow" it for two weeks and you do not get paid a rental fee??

Fur sucks, but rather recycle the existing ones then kill MORE animals!

Its because it was an older coat it was obvious it was taken by Lohan. An Older coat is rare to have a near duplicate at a private party that Lohan grabbed by "mistake".

The college student was given the coat by her grandmother, she didn't buy it. And she didn't leave it behind - it was missing when she was leaving the club.

As for this young lady who attends college and owns a $12,000 fur coat (and PETA, please go after her!), she really needs to sue because she obviously couldn't have afforded to buy a down coat to keep her warm in the meantime.

There is absolutely no lawsuit here. I'm not a big fan of Lindsey Lohan's, but I'm an even less fan of this insipid jerk who thinks she's going to become famous and rich because a star accidentally took her coat.

In a strongly worded statement PETA (People for Ethically-challenged Thieving Actresses) angrily denounced the negative smears being hurled at Lindsay Lohan over recent accusations that she fleeced a fur belonging to a fellow reveler while attending a private party in Manhattan.

The PETA representative was quite adamant and stated categorically, "Lindsey did not steal the stole".

Ms. Lohan's legal representative was equally outraged. "No way she made off with the mink. Lindsey's a good girl"

Ms. Lohan, when contacted by this reporter denied any wrongdoing, although she did admit to "borrowing" other people"s boyfriends, without permission, on occasion. "But I always return them", she added.

Firstly, to be able to afford a 12,000 dollar coat, one would think the owner wouldn't need anymore money. Secondly if the coat was that special to its owner, she wouldn't have mistakenly left it behind--who forgets their 12.000 dollar coat at a club? Finally, of course the owner would sue--it makes perfect sense, her 15 minutes of fame that she has been striving for, has now come, and she is going to enjoy it!

As for Lindsay, prancing around in a fur coat(borrowed or not) is really asking for trouble from animal activists--PETA must be having a field day! It can't be great for her already dwindling career!!
