Mccain Blogs

Wishing you could be a campaign surrogate, but don't have a national platform? Do you find blogging your own opinions tedious? Wish you could have someone tell you what to think during this political season? Well look no further than John McCain's new blog outreach!

That's right; the McCain camp wants to recruit online supporters and activists to serve as comment trolls. From their website:

Help spread the word about John McCain on news and blog sites. Your efforts to help get the message out about John McCain's policies and plan for the future is one of the most valuable things you can do for this campaign....

Select from the numerous web, blog and news sites listed here, go there, and make your opinions supporting John McCain known. Once you've commented on a post, video or news story, report the details of your comment by clicking the button below.

Now, don't worry if you've never heard of a blog, or never written a comment, or heck, even used a computer. Because not only does the campaign tell you on which blogs to comment -- Redstate for right-wingers, Daily Kos for progressives (sorry HuffPo fans, we didn't make the list) -- it will even tell you what to say! Just click on the Blog Interaction page for "Today's Talking Points."

Just look at today's gem, entitled "Time For Solutions:"

John McCain will put the national interest ahead of partisanship, he will work with anyone who sincerely wants to get this country moving again. If John McCain is elected President, the era of the permanent campaign will end. The era of problem solving will begin.

You might be thinking, "What's in it for me?" As a matter of fact, for every comment the McCain verifies, you will awarded McCain Action Center. Which is important, because in Fantasy Land 2013, those things will replace the dollar as American currency.

Wishing you could be a campaign surrogate, but don't have a national platform? Do you find blogging your own opinions tedious? Wish you could have someone tell you what to think during this politica...

John McCain will put the national interest ahead of partisanship, he will work with anyone who sincerely wants to get this country moving again (or at least getting his bowels moving again.) If John McCain is elected President, the era of the permanent campaign will end, and the era of permanent lobbyists working on his campaign will continue. The era of problem solving will begin, just as soon as Grandpa can remember what the problem is? And it's about time...

...just thought I'd give it a try, although I couldn't help adding a few of my own 'talking points' just to personalize my trolling...how'd I do? anybody won over by my incisive and insightful 'comments'?!

Great, but John McCain still sucks. Marketing won't help a bad product.

I don't know the "pet rock" was a big hit. In America you can sell anything. John McCain, the new pet rock.

Now that is just pathetic. At least get some REAL supporters!

He doesn't have nearly enough REAL supporters.

Mmmmm. McCain announces need for trolls not knowing that this info would be harvested from his site. His campaign staff thinks the Internet works like the Pony Express.

Just more McCoo-Coo-ness.

I've known forever that this happens, but I have never seen such overt recruiting done before.
I'm surprised that HuffPo isn't on the list.

No matter. It won't help him one iota.

Oh, believe they are... It's the principal reason they're putting out the call to arms.

But it won't do a bit of good, because they don't know how to respond, comment or link in intelligently. We can see their blabber coming a mile away.

Whatever happened to Mormondude? I think he finally got smart and became a liberal. His last few comments were surprising me because he actually started to get progressive and make sense...

Daily KOS has been putting up talking points for their trolls for quite a while now. I've seen them here and on Townhall, word for word.

Did they hire a member of Ron Paul's campaign staff? That's the only explanation for such an idiotic idea.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:49 PM on 05/20/2008

Now, now. I'm fully confident that Grandpa's staff is very capable of coming up with idiotic ideas by themselves.

I just want to know how many McCain Action Center points you need to get the toaster. I need a good toaster.

Huffington Post isn't on there, not even if you go to the "Web Communicator" link and look at the toggle options. Ankle Biting Pundits is there, and dozens of other sites no one has ever heard of, but you can't earn any "reward points" for posting on the site The Guardian named the most powerful blog in the world. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/mar/09/blogs.

Hmmm. Either the people who set this up know nothing about blogs, or they don't think it is worth the effort here. I doubt it is the latter, though, because they actually highlight DailyKos, where even Hillary's trolls are afraid to go.

What I can't figure out from the site is what you get for those points. A no bid government contract? Your very own illegal immigrant? A chance to personally bomb Iran? The possibilities seem endless.

It's really easy to switch from slamming Hillary, because she so richly deserves it, day after day, to bopping McCain in comments.

Still, slamming him on blogs is a little harder because of the rapidity of his flips and flops and the constant pandering. I just can't keep up with it.

But if you throw Jello at the McCain thought wall, it all sticks.

McCain is hiring trolls. How about that? And the most hilarious thing of all is that not only no experience is necessary, no rational, individual thinking is required either! McCain is giving you talking points, so he is happy to do the thinking for you! LOL!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:24 PM on 05/20/2008

Well, I don't think that HE is doing the thinking... I'm sure some other paid leg-humper is doing it for him. Grandpa can't even tell the difference between Shiite and Sunni.

It would be loads more fun to register as a McCain troll, then slam him on all of the sites, and report back.

John McCain will put partisanship ahead of the national interest; he will work with any lobbyist who sincerely wants to give him money. If John McCain is elected President, the era of the permanent war will have begun. The era of utter destruction to our constitutional values will continue.

There you go, it's official. When someone comes on these sites and disparages one candidate or the other, ignore them because they are probably Republicans in sheep's clothing.

I have been pretty sure for a while that any person who says I have my favorite democratic candidate but if they don't win I will vote for McCain" is a troll. McCain is too different from either democratic candidate on positions for any fervent admirer of either to go there.

Trolls one and all !!!

Actually, I have a family member who is sincerely HRC-prone who's doing the threat thing.

It happens.
