The feud between GE/NBC/MSNBC and the White House/Fox News has intensified. Below, five links that encapsulate Tuesday's developments in the MSNBC vs. Fox News/the White House saga:

  • White House's Gillespie Takes NBC News Complaint To Fox (click to watch video):

Appearing before Fox's Megyn Kelly, who seemed to have a palpably difficult time wrangling her own sense of skepticism, Gillespie complained of how MSNBC dared edit their interview, and how they were forcing viewers to use "streaming video" to see the unexpurgated session between Bush and Engel. He said that NBC News cut the interview "very artfully" - you know, like a White House sponsored Video News Release? - and that the news organization engaged in "deceptive" "masking" - like, say, the White House/Pentagon "message force multiplier" program did!

  • NBC News President Steve Capus Responds To Ed Gillespie's Charges:

    Mr. Gillespie,

I'm in receipt of your email and want to assure you we take this matter very seriously.

We appreciated President Bush's decision to do the interview with NBC News, and believe Mr. Engel's reporting accurately reflects the discussion with the President.

Let me assure you, there was no effort to be "deceptive," as you suggest. Furthermore, the notion this was, "deceitful editing to further a media-manufactured storyline," is a gross misrepresentation of the facts.

  • Olbermann Responds To White House NBC Complaints: The President Doesn't Know What He's Talking About (click to watch video):

Olbermann aired the full excerpt and blasted the White House saying, "The White House apparently [doesn't realize] that in full, it is clear the President never actually answered Richard Engel's first question and clear that the President either does not know what he talked about or what he is now talking about."

  • Steve Doocy Blasts Keith Olbermann: "A Guy Who Picks On People's Children" (click to watch video):

"I have a problem with Keith Olbermann," Steve Doocy said. "Keith Olbermann made my son the world's worst person. How can you make a kid the world's worst person?" Doocy asked. "Next time you see Keith Olbermann on TV, just remember: that is a guy who picks on people's children. He completely sandbagged my son, took his comments out of context, and mangled them around the way he does every night. And I am mad at Keith Olbermann."

  • Is MSNBC A Political Liability To NBC?:

Monday's letter from the White House aide Ed Gillespie to the NBC News president Steve Capus was a high-profile complaint about NBC News and MSNBC -- but it was far from the first.

Critics are increasingly citing MSNBC for what they say is left-leaning partisan political coverage and commentary. More and more, NBC shares staff, office space and an identity with MSNBC, exposing the news division to complaints about opinionated cable hosts like Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews.

Mr. Gillespie's letter -- although focusing on an interview conducted by an NBC correspondent on Sunday -- purposefully tied the news on NBC and the opinion on MSNBC together. The letter requested reassurance that Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews, who are vocal critics of the Bush administration, "don't hold editorial sway over the NBC network news division."

Yes, it is true. The left finally has a news station that promotes their views to counter the right's views expressed on Fox. So what? free country (supposedly)

Are you f**king kidding me? The Cheney administration is trying to police journalistic integrity? Fox News has been the propaganda arm of the GOP for over a decade, and together with Dana Perino, administration officials, and other surrogates they perform the same function as the Iraqi Minister of Information. What's next? Is that idiot Gillespie going to write a letter to everyone in the media who does not parrot Republican talking points? I'm pretty sure this is on the list of crap that happens when a nation is making the transition into fascism.

REALITY is biased against the GOP. Keith provides irrefutable facts that prove the truly malevolent nature of the GOP, and the emotion he conveys is entirely appropriate considering the nature of the material.

That being said, Keith is certainly not perfect. He can be both smug and narcissistic, and his questions are often framed in a manner meant to illicit a decidedly anti-GOP response. But he tells the truth, and his voice is the loudest in television news that opposes the current regime.

Keith Dullman of MSNBC infamy personifies the Left. Now that his big mouth got him in the stew with real Americans (does not include "Progressives," the code word to hide the real meaning of Liberal/Morondotcom/Soros/Socialist/Democrats) he hides behind "Producer Mistake." He has called our troops cold blooded killers and caught the correct barrage of mighty outrage he claims a Producer edited his proper remark. Yeah, right Blooperman, you weasel-mouthed scum. Good night and bad luck.

I believe that he called Blackwater operatives "cold-blooded killers" not our troops. You guys never seem to be able to distinguish your own asses from a hole in the ground. Which might explain why you continually vote against your on interests.

It is difficult to believe that Fox News and the White House, (funny how those two always seem to be mentioned in the same breath), are railing against a particular slant in journalism when the right wing of the Republican party fought so hard to have the Fairness Doctrine deep sixed so that they could perpetrate Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity on America.

It is difficult to maintain the view that Keith Olberman broadcasts with a political slant when he just recently took a Democrat to task over her campaign policies and has had no problem mentioning silly things that other Democrats have done.

Keith Olberman is not broadcasting news that is slanted towards a political view but, rather, news that is slanted against political stupidity. If he happens to mention George Bush more often than most it is because George Bush is the stupidest president we've ever had.

George Bush has attempted to dismantle the structure of government, seeking to enlarge the Executive over the Legislative and Judicial branches, he has started a war based on lies told to the American people and Congress, he has repudiated the basis of the Constitution by denying due process, he has made the United States complicitous with states that have deplorable human rights records for the purpose of denying prisoners their rights, he has broken the law regarding surveillance of American citizens knowingly and intentionally and has pursued policy and legislation to legitimize his crimes.

Keep it up Keith! We're with you!

I watched Laura Ingrahm (sp) completly talk over a young girl yesterday everytime she tried to speak. The subject was free speech.

I watched Cheney say Saddam was behind 911 when it was already debunked months previously.

Condi said no one ever thought planes could be used as bombs.

We'll be greeted as liberators.

WmD's and mushroom clouds.

Yellowcake uranium.

I will fire anyone in my administration who outed a CIA operative.

I haven't heard anyone say $4 a gallon.

It goes on and on and on and on.

This latest issue with Bush and his interview, I don't get. I watched the whole interview, i read the transcript and I don't get the nuance that is supposed to be so horrible.

Msnbc is fairly balancing the crap on Faux news. Has anyone turned on thier AM radio and tried to tune in Air America . If a the fog rolls in I lose the weak station, but I have five other screaming conservatives to listen to.

This is a media war and I'm glad to see it raise it's head. Stand firm Keith , you gotta love it.

What is with the Bush administration? Isn't freedon of speech still a right of the people? They talk about the limited freedom in places like North Korea, Russia and other dictatorships where news is manipulated by those in power. It seems that that's what they want here in the USA. Thank God that some true journalists still feel the need to tell the truth, even to the soon to be evicted occupiers of the White House.

They only like the Second Amendment, not the first. Didn't you know it is okay to choose which parts of the Constitution you like if your George Bush/John McCain.

Or the 14th, the 5th, or the 4th (they have particular disdain, in fact, for the 4th). Warrant schwarrant.

Oh, and they love the 9th (the one they will use to make abortion a crime in about 25 states once the extremist Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade).

Many of those Fox anchors and reporters are friendly with Pat Robertson and appear on his show regularly...but then all the networks invite David Brody who is a CBN reporter to speak on issues of Christianity, which is a laugh, as though anyone affiliated with Pat Robertson can speak for Christians. I wish the next time the Fox people appear on the 700 Club they would ask Patty how he can leg press 2,000 pounds or how his son was able to continue healing and prophesying on tv during his extramarital affair. It seems like God might have ceased working through Gordy while he was in sin. I guess adultery is not a sin for the fat, spoiled holyman son of God's holy prophet.

If you want to learn about slanted reporting, watch CBN and the 700 Club AND touch your tv screen for a miracle AND hear about who God is angry with AND send them some money. They say that God will bless you if you send them money.
