Hmmmm, I thought it was Hillary who raised over 10 million dollars in 24 hours and brought in 100,000 new donors. What happened to them?

Why can't Hillary win the votes of the educated voters?

What is it about education that turns these voters away from Hillary Clinton?

Maybe Clinton's fund raising has been poor because her supporters have not heard of the thing called the Internet?

I love it.
Maybe these are the questions the talking heads should be asking. Put these on John King's magic screen when they go over the exit poll data.
Could someone ask the countless former Clinton advisers-turned-pundits these questions?

i think they're waiting for the promised gas tax holiday to take effect, at which time they'll send in a portion of the $2.70 per week that they may save.

seriously, if we want to get the votes of economically disadvantaged, uneducated, rural whites, we need to respect them and resist the impulse to give in to our own prejudices. and remember, a sizeable chunk of this constituency is already voting for barack, just as dems always get at least 35% of the vote in the redest of red states. barack needs to meet them where they are, and inspire them to follow him out of their tiny little worlds to realize the possibilities and opportunities that exist for them. (in contrast to clinton, who pretends to be one of them and validates their own biases because it accrues to her benefit, but keeps them right where they are).

Why can't Hillary win the votes of the educated voters? Answer: We are not stupid!

Her fundraising is not as good as Obama's, granted, but more than $22m in one month is far from poor.

She tried to do the fundraising in the traditional way and that worked well for some time. Obama's embrace of the internet donation was not an ingenious idea, it was a necessity, because he could not compete with Clinton in tradtional fundraising. The internet was his only alternative. The fundraising went into overdrive on the night he lost New Hampshire. That defeat opened the flood gates and showered him with money. Supporters felt that after losing New Hampshire, their candidate needed help.

Clinton started raising money via the internet relatively late, must have been after Super Tuesday that she really put effort into that way of raising fund. So, for a procedure that is fairly new for her and her campaign, it works pretty well. Not as good as Obama's machine, but much better than McCain's.

And about intelligence, education and the choice of candidate: I have no idea why the educated and rich rather stick with Obama than with Hillary and why the poor and uneducated are more in favor of her, but since the educated and rich are a minority in this country and since the majority is less educated and less rich... I'd go for the uneducated masses. If the educated are sooo smart, they will sooner or later follow, or watch four years of McCain.

The point isn't that the money came in over the internet. The point is that the money came from so many unique donors. *That* is the salient difference.

Brilliant! The "follow the dumb and poor" argument. That's your best yet. Absolutely priceless. Is this the crap you're planning on trotting past the Super-D's? Really?

Let me get this straight. Sure she lost the primary battle by every conceivable metric - save one - poor, dumb white people just LOVE her!!! She can't raise as much money, get as many votes, or exhale without making stuff up. That's why she should be the nominee. That's why she should be president.

Could we really have a candidate of the people, by the people, for the people?

I think so.

Add one more small contributer to the list. Me. I have NEVER given a penny to a political party or candidate.

I hear you! What if this is just the beginning and political candidates of both parties begin to focus their fundraising on We the People? Can you even imagine where it might lead?

I too have never given a dime in a primary. The only campaign I have ever donated to was Bill Clinton and that was only in the general election. I have given multiple donations now, my first was for $300 to Barack Obam after Bill Clinton opened his mouth in SC and it really insulted my inteligence. This was the first of several donations that I made to his campaign. I realized then the only way to really have my voice heard is to put my money where my mouth is.

Look at the numbers...........and there are people who think Obama is not a good leader and chief executive???

For all you pundits and Republicans, the statistic you need to pay attention to is the average donation:

$91 per donor. Know what that means? Yup, there's a lot more where that came from. Let's get it on, McCain.

The trouble is, according to the Clinton and McCain supporters, you, me, and the rest of the horde that are kicking in their milk money to support Obama, aren't hard-working Americans. We're all likely to lose focus and start spending our welfare checks on crack cocaine, go on a bender around the first Tuesday in November and forget to vote. Isn't that what they are saying about us?

By the donations breakout it appears that Obama may end up working for the people since that's who's financing his campaign. What a change that would be!

What? Open dialog with the American people AND "our enemies"?

What a wonderful world it would be.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:11 AM on 05/21/2008

Now THAT would be revolutionary. The media could not ignore it. It would be brilliant.

The naysayers would say, however: the president is going to listen to the people instead of making his own decisions?!! What a wimp! What will other countries think???

Well, other countries might think again about us. Which would be a blessing.

I have no doubt he will do that with his "Google for Government"
He has also said that his Secretaries will get out of their Washington offices and actually go out and townhall with America... can you imagine? The Secretary for Education or Health and Human Services actually going out and talking to America????
Dang... when has that EVER been done??

Come on, the guy has now won a majority of pledged delegates, and he's racked up a big victory in Oregon tonight. He's going to be the nominee, so I think he merits the headlines.
