The LA Times is reporting that Hillary Clinton is nearly $31 million in debt. The news comes off a release from her campaign Tuesday night that she has raised $22 million:

No wonder Sen. Hillary Clinton was so late filing her required campaign financial reports Tuesday night. Her political team didn't want the shocking news in it to overshadow her lopsided thumping of Sen. Barack Obama in Kentucky.

Now comes the morning after, pay-up time. Clinton's campaign debt has now soared to nearly $31 million, according to numbers crunched early this morning by The Times' campaign finance guru, Dan Morain.

I am sure that this true elitist is quite capable of paying off her debt but this tells us a lot about her weakness as a candidate that a much younger inexperienced candidate like Obama could so outclass her despite all her advantages. And this is the question never asked by the MSM. No one, and I mean no one, started with more of a political advantage than Hillary Clinton. First lady for 8 years, wife of the most popular Democrat in recent memory, part of the Clinton political machine, and more political connections in that rolodex than anyone can speak of, on top of all that she was crowned the inevitable nominee. Yet here we are 15-16 months later, and she is behind in every viable metric, and most importantly she is mired in tens of millions in debt, and we're supposed to believe she is ready on day one? If the roles were reversed between her and Barack, would we be even having this conversation?

Bush and Chaney ran up the U.S. debt to unspeakable levels. Hillary Clinton doesn't seem fazed by her own reckless spending. I guess it's easier not to care when she doesn't have to pay it back and the American people are ultimately footing the bill.

She gets a daily assist from the MSM who would rather fan the flames of discourse by focusing on 'white rural voters' from the guy who is best financially suited to put together a plan to attack his problem, than Hillary who is not financially sound. The MSM is basically complicit in making its talking point consistent with its mission, which is to stoke ratings and advertising dollars, rather than pressing the Clintons' surrogates to explain how she can be an advocate for the economy when her own campaign has been a bust.

And, everytime these so-called reporters do not bring up Hillary's financial woes they give her a 'free' pass to come out and push her many narratives. In exit poll after exit poll, voters are stating in no uncertain terms that they think the economy is the most pressing issue; yet here is the MSM pretending that Hillary indebtness is inconvenient to their corporate need to keep the aura of this Democratic contest going.

It would be telling to poll Hillary's own supporters to see how many actually know that her campaign is insolvent? Most probably have no clue?

Good point, Billy. Since, it is obvious that her debts have risen not lessen. The MSM is simply either enjoying their rating bonanza or anticipating the possibility of watching and recording the latest Clinton car wreck. If we could put our finger on why they are so blatantly ignoring Hillary's money woes---as she keeps making a strong case for her being the best candidate to solve America's woes---is astounding. Hillary's own financial mismanagement undermines her argument, but why the media is so silent continues to be part of why she hasn't exited the stage.

It is doubtful that the folks who voted for Hillary in WV and KY are actually reading the LA Times and have a working knowledge that she is seriously in debt? Otherwise, the US is really in serious trouble; that some of its citizens are consciously accepting that Hillary's debt ridden campaign is immaterial to her leading the US economy.

Which would then point to a level of dis-engagement in the American electorate that possibly really could put John McCain in the Whitehouse should Obama best Hillary. Millions of Americans simply just might not be paying attention, beyond the fake points advanced in the MSM, and this may be the most troubling thing for those of us who are watching.
