The LA Times is reporting that Hillary Clinton is nearly $31 million in debt. The news comes off a release from her campaign Tuesday night that she has raised $22 million:

No wonder Sen. Hillary Clinton was so late filing her required campaign financial reports Tuesday night. Her political team didn't want the shocking news in it to overshadow her lopsided thumping of Sen. Barack Obama in Kentucky.

Now comes the morning after, pay-up time. Clinton's campaign debt has now soared to nearly $31 million, according to numbers crunched early this morning by The Times' campaign finance guru, Dan Morain.

If Hillary is $31 million dollars in debt, that means she owes her vendors way more than the $10 million that has been reported. I don't feel sorry for any vendor that has been stiffed by Hillary after it became known that she was not paying her bills. If they were stupid enough to extend her credit, they deserve to be stiffed. But I feel very sorry for all the vendors she is stiffing who extended her credit when she still had credibility. I think this issue alone makes her unqualified to be President. If she had any ethics at all, she would pay off all the small business vendors she is stiffing out of her personal money and then worry about collecting enough money from supporters to pay herself back.

The LA Times reported it. I consider it part of the media. But I looked up some other newspapers and don't see it mentioned. The NYT has a front page above the fold, however, that Clinton is going to stay in the race and win. If you just consider tv the media, don't expect much. I don't know how to get in touch with Olberman, but this sure would be a good story for him. Or maybe David Schuster?

I'd really like a Clinton supporter to respond to this question: Why are you still supporting this candidate? What honor, integrity, wisdom, and leadership is she showing at this point? Other than vanity, what is she running for?

Hillary might be compounding her own problem, borderorder, with all of her tough talk. Her supporters probably have no clue she is in debt; as the media isn't exacting shouting it from the roof top. But, more troubling is why the DLC hasn't asked her to end this disivive insolvent campaign; perhaps they too simply are going to let her destroy herself if she is too arrogant to stop digging her own financial hole?

Yet, I'm not certain if Hillary would use the hypothetical monies you point out as a solution to do anything but trudge onward. Maybe the only solution to ending the Hillary train is to let it just violently wreck on its own hubris.

I find it interesting that we are not hearing from the Clinton supporters on this issue. They have been all over the board but I haven't seen one post attempting to justify the way Hillary has handled her finances in this campaign.

To Clinton supporters: I would honestly like to hear your thoughts because this has bothered me for months. Perhaps I'm missing something but it doesn't seem right for her to continue to incur expenses when so many people are still waiting to be paid.

If we view this election as a hiring decision as Senator Clinton asks, how do we justify hiring her to handle trillions of dollars when she has been unable to handle a hundred million?

Besides, the fact is she is wasting money. I have no idea how much she spent in Kentucky, but it was wasted money. Her poll numbers in Kentucky didn't change one bit from before she campaigned in the state to after she campaigned in the state. She could have saved her money and had the same result. But, she had to campaign there to stay in the news. Heaven forbid Hillary falls out of the news cycle.

At the Nevada state Convention, Obama delegates paid all of their own expenses, Clinton delegates were provided a free 'box lunch' and according to at least a few of her supporters she also paid for their transportation and hotel. At the Colorado convention while Obama supporters paid for their own food, Clinton delegates were treated to an unlimited supply of food vouchers. go figure...

Ever wonder why there aren't as many Obama roadsigns? They open offices rather than putting a sign on every corner. When they are done they take the signs with them to the next state. It's a frugal campaign manned by volunteers who eat donated food.

As Obama has said, we know we are investing in our own future. I know his name is dirt now in many circles, but this reminds me of stories about Carter's run for the White House. He and his family never stayed in hotels throughout the primary season, relying instead on the kindness of supporters with a spare bedroom or sofabed as they went along.

And even the signs that there are, we purchase them. I have a sign in my front yard, but I don't expect to convert anyone with it. Clinton, on the other had, pays for all those signs and hands them out for free. I think she has also "bought" a lot of votes and blown a lot of money that way. Oh I know it's legal, but as early on as Iowa I remember her hiring an extra two hundred "campaign workers" and then another two hundred. What they did, I don't know, but those four hundred workers all had family, friends and co-workers, and I'm sure they were expected to go out and tell them all to vote for nice Mrs. Clinton who gave them a little pin money. And apparently, this sort of thing was wide-spread among Latinos and culturally taken as a given that a politician would engage in this.

one of my favorite teachers in high school found out about her husband's affair, she showed up the following monday morning in a brand new, top-of-the-line luxury import, all paid for in ca$h.

she's still married to the cheating husband. he totally supported her need to drain their collective bank account in the wake of his stupidity, recklessness and disrespect.

and it is this teacher who i can't help but think of every single time more news drops about Hillarity and their money.

she's definitely going for Lifetime Channel's movie of the week.
