The LA Times is reporting that Hillary Clinton is nearly $31 million in debt. The news comes off a release from her campaign Tuesday night that she has raised $22 million:

No wonder Sen. Hillary Clinton was so late filing her required campaign financial reports Tuesday night. Her political team didn't want the shocking news in it to overshadow her lopsided thumping of Sen. Barack Obama in Kentucky.

Now comes the morning after, pay-up time. Clinton's campaign debt has now soared to nearly $31 million, according to numbers crunched early this morning by The Times' campaign finance guru, Dan Morain.

Imagine her running the country? I can't believe that she is taking money from 11 year old kids who sell their toys for her debt. In return, she promises their parents that she will "fight" for them to get a 3 month gas tax holiday (which she knows full well she can't deliver on), and she will "fight" for them to have a 3 month suspension of foreclosures. She keeps promises to delay people paying their debts for 3 months - but how does that really solve the problems? She is in this campaign for her own ego and desire to be in the history books, she should be paying for her own vanity rather than lifting herself up on the backs of kids.

However her tab will cost Obama resources that he could use in the general if he doesn't bail out Clinton. This is her way to weaken his campaign in the general so she has a change to reemerge in 2012.

It doesn't work like that. The Obama campaign can't (even if they wanted to) divert money raised for his campaign to pay off her debt - it is illegal. Some people have suggested there may be talks about him helping her to raise money. But it would not be coming out of his campaign funds.
You could make the argument that it might be the same people targeted for fundraising, but I think we mostly know where our priorities should lie - in defeating McCain in November and getting more downticket Democrats elected. I personally don't feel too much in a hurry to donate my hard earned money to pay off the debts of someone who made over 100 million in the past several years. If some people can afford to and want to help her out, hopefully they will be making other donations too.
I just wanted to mention this because there have even been some people saying they won't give more to Obama because they heard some rumor it might go to Clinton's debts - - that is NOT true, and we still need to keep giving what we can.

SIXTEEN months ago, Hillary Clinton, along with ALL the other 8 candidates who were running for the democratic nomination, ALL OF THEM, signed a contract which said that because they broke party rules and decided to move up their primary voting date, that the states of Florida, and Michigan would not count.
BUT when Hillary started losing the race, she STARTED LYING, ACTING as though she had not actually signed a contract. even when shw was confronted with her lies on television.

2. So not only is Hillary trying to get the votes in Florida, and Michigan counted, ( ONLY because she needs them to win), Hillary has said that she wants to EXCLUDE all the votes that were cast in states with caucases. She says that they should not. Now Hillary does not want the votes cast by voters in caucus states counted. (There goes Hillary's whole argument that she wants EVERY vote to count) The fact is that Hillary only wants the votes in the states SHE won to count. So if you live in a caucus state, Hillary DOES NOT think ANY of your votes should count, And she said so!!

THIS IS THE TYPE OF MANIPULATION, AND DISHONESTY WE CAN EXPECT FROM HILLARY AS PRESIDENT. SHE HAS ALREADY SHOWN SHE HAS NO RESPECT FOR RULES, OR CONTRACTS.

I was toying with the premise that she saw the writing on the wall and was staying to run a cheap but plausible enough campaign in order to fund-raise and put more money against the debt than current expenses. Nope.
