I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain Hagee

John Hagee, the controversial evangelical leader and endorser of Sen. John McCain, argued in a late 1990s sermon that the Nazis had operated on God's behalf to chase the Jews from Europe and shepherd them to Palestine. According to the Reverend, Adolph Hitler was a "hunter," sent by God, who was tasked with expediting God's will of having the Jews re-establish a state of Israel.

Going in and out of biblical verse, Hagee preached: "'And they the hunters should hunt them,' that will be the Jews. 'From every mountain and from every hill and from out of the holes of the rocks.' If that doesn't describe what Hitler did in the holocaust you can't see that."

He goes on: "Theodore Herzl is the father of Zionism. He was a Jew who at the turn of the 19th century said, this land is our land, God wants us to live there. So he went to the Jews of Europe and said 'I want you to come and join me in the land of Israel.' So few went that Hertzel went into depression. Those who came founded Israel; those who did not went through the hell of the holocaust.

"Then god sent a hunter. A hunter is someone with a gun and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter. And the Bible says -- Jeremiah writing -- 'They shall hunt them from every mountain and from every hill and from the holes of the rocks,' meaning there's no place to hide. And that might be offensive to some people but don't let your heart be offended. I didn't write it, Jeremiah wrote it. It was the truth and it is the truth. How did it happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said my top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel." (Listen to the audio below.)

The sermon, which was first posted by Bruce Wilson on his site, Talk To Action, adds another element to Hagee's controversial stance on the state and history of Israel. It also may provide a new round of political headaches for McCain who has admitted that seeking out Hagee's endorsement was a mistake, but still declared himself "glad to have" it.

A spokesman for Hagee confirmed the authenticity of the remark, which can be found at around the 1:08 mark of his sermon "Battle For Jerusalem."

Since McCain secured the endorsement, both his campaign and Hagee have been pressed to explain a series of derogatory remarks the Reverend made about the Catholic Church, including his reference to the institution as "the Great Whore."

Hagee has since apologized for those remarks. But his interpretation of the role of the Nazis could be harder to dismiss, in part because McCain and Sen. Barack Obama are expected to compete heavily over the Jewish vote come the general election, in part because McCain has said he admires Hagee's commitment to Israel, but mainly because similar theories have found their way into much of the Reverend's writings.

As Wilson notes, in his 2006 book "Jerusalem Countdown", Hagee proposed the theory that "anti-Semitism, and thus the Holocaust, was the fault of Jews themselves -- the result of an age old divine curse incurred by the ancient Hebrews through worshiping idols and passed, down the ages, to all Jews now alive." He also wrote that "Most readers will be shocked by the clear record of history linking Adolf Hitler and the Roman Catholic Church in a conspiracy to exterminate the Jews."

Hagee is considered, in many political circles, to be one of the most passionate and strident supporters of Israel. He has spoken at AIPAC conferences and leads the evangelical group Christians United for Israel. But his views of the country, while possibly shared by others in the evangelical community, can be, at times, startling. Holding to the belief that Armageddon will come to earth following the reestablishment of the Kingdom of Israel, Hagee has advocated an aggressive war against Iran and has opposed any Israeli military withdrawal from the West Bank.

McCain, at least in the public record, has sought to thread the needle with the Hagee association: distancing himself from the controversial comment while reaping the political benefits of the Reverend's endorsement. Appearing on ABC's "'This Week" in late April 2008, McCain criticized Hagee's past remarks on the Catholic Church, but said that, "I admire and appreciate his advocacy for the state of Israel, the independence of the state of Israel."

Now is the time to shine...

We finally have an issue to hit back on. After being pounded for our guy's associations with religous race baiting bigots, terrorists, and political sleazebags, we have the press seizing on the Hagee thing as though there is equivilance.

We have to stay on message here.

Remember...

1.) McCain accepting an endorsement from a religous nut IS THE SAME as Obama's 20 year relationship with a racist church. No difference.

2.) McCain accepting and then rejecting Hagee's support in a matter of months IS THE SAME as Obama's launching of Wright after 20 years.

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE!!

Go get 'em CNN, Time Mag, CBS, MSNBC, New Republic, et. al.

BHO '08!!

McCain is, as has been noted, a pathetic judge of character.

And, far from the"maverick" some people say he once was, he has turned out to be a contemptible panderer too.

The continual problem is that John McCain every day is back-tracking on one issue after another. I for one dont care what a pastor has to say unless the Pastor is on the ticket for President, so that is irrelevant to me BUT what Is very relevant is that once again, I cannot trust McCain as he doesn't seem to know who he is or what he stands for.

No more Bush - no more speaking with forked tongue...

Mitt spoke at a Regent commencement so I guess he sees nothing wrong in Pat Robertson's ridiculous prophesies and warnings, telling us who God is angry with and who God is punishing and who should be "taken out.". I guess Mitt watches the 700 Club pay-for-pray tv show and "touches his tv screen for a miracle" as Pat Robertson often tells his viewers they should do.

McCain denounced him so end of story to your disappointment. As I said before, he was not McCain pastor or mentor & McCain didn't listen to his speeches for 20 yrs either.

Well, I once had a pastor who said God sent me to bless him and to take his place. He got caught in sin and needed a scapegoat....which he said was me. I swear this happened to me.

Preachers think they have special status with God and can say and do whatever they please since they are more special than the rest of us...I guess it is hubris...or just mental illness, but it can be very dangerous. It is not good to be too trusting. It is so sad when a pastor exploits faithfuls. TV preachers have made them rich off of trusting (gullible) faithfuls.

ugh...I meant to type THEMSELVES not them...I type too fast when I am angry and upset and feeling sick from all the poison being spread by fake holymen...now they can call me stupid since I misused a word though..they always go looking for some kind of weakness when they are criticized.....smearing is what it is called...so I repent and confess that I made a mistake in my earlier post...please forgive me.

You touch on a huge, largely unexamined, problem: this tendency to idealize those in positions of power, to blindly confer qualities of all sorts on those who, quite often, are riddled with character flaws and mental distortions.

This "idealization" is a mental distortion of it's own! Exaggerating an individual's "good" qualities while failing to critically examine any potential negative qualities. Later, when some scandal occurs or they fail us in some way that we didn't expect, the swing of the pendulum goes to the other extreme: All we can see are their negative qualities.

People seem especially susceptible to those who hold themselves up as religious leaders. They fail to engage their critical faculties or don't even know how to think critically.

This preacher said that I was anointed to bless him and to save him. He took a prayer request card that I had written while still a member of his church and used it against me. He took a confession that my husband had made and used it to harm him for YEARS.

I do not see any difference in the level of disgust in Hagee's Hitler comments and calling the Catholic Church "The Great Whore." Both views are repugnant. So, why would John McCain denounce and reject Hagee over one, but not the other? I guess he thinks he has the Catholic vote locked up?

McCain is a transparent panderer who's actions only now should offend all American Catholics.

This is not going to work the way people think, because of double standards in the issues concerning race. Believe it or not John McCain is not really embarassed by Hagees comments. It seems to me that it was all staged and is a good way to cement the support of anti semitic republicans on behalf of John McCain. So what that he now denounces Hagee's remarks as it has already served it's purpose. It is "soup" for those who dream of the resurrection of the third reich in America, and that resurrection lies within John McCain and the republican party. Yes, John McCain has stooped that low to hustle up votes. I do not support Clinton, but this dirty trick makes her look like 'the good fairey'!

"John McCain, you are a pathetic individual for playing on the minds of people like that. And what you are doing is supreme wickedness!"

You say "John McCain, you are a pathetic individual for playing on the minds of people like that. And what you are doing is supreme wickedness!"

And yet, fully 40% + of the US vote in 2008 will go to McCain; what does it say about your fellow citizens?

Don't be so sure it's going to be as high as 40%. Then again, what does that say about the other *60%* of the population? Hmmm?

I hope now that those synagogues that have hosted representatives of Pastor Hagee's CUFI (Christians United for Israel) at public gatherings in their buildings will seriously question the basis for CUFI's supposed support for Israel. It appears cynical, grossly insensitive to and deeply disrespectful of Jews worldwide. What kind of crazy god would have six million Jews murdered so that some would survive and return to Palestine to found the state of Israel? For what? For the fulfillment of Pastor Hagee's illiterate interpretation of the Bible? His version of Christianity is perverted. Why can he not see that a loving God must have wept to not be able to intervene in earthly matters to save the victims of Nazism from the evil perpetrated by warped humans against other humans. God had nothing to do with Nazi evil and to excuse it as part of God's plan is SICK! I guess we were warned about false prophets, and Pastor Hagee seems to be one of them. I hope that good Christians who have been hoodwinked by this man will denounce him!

Wise move, McCain! You've gone after Hagee and Rod Parsley: why not go for broke and seek the endorsement of David Duke and Charles Manson! That should cover all bases with the right-wing lunatic- fringe vote! You could seek the support to Robert Mugabe while you're at it!

It's amazing to me that Hagee has been able to gather such a huge membership to his Mega-Ku-Klux-Klan-gregation; he must be one hell of a Grand Dragqueen, Inferior Whizzer or whatever it is that those people call the guy in the silky purple robes and pointy hood.

Mugabe is probably too busy endorsing himself by murdering his countrymen to help our own Neo-con artists out at present. But I hear that the generals running Burma (Myanmar) have a lot of free time on their hands, since they aren't wasting it by helping out their own people. Their FEMA-like response to such a huge national tragedy makes them the perfect fit for dealing with "The Man Who Would Be (another) Bush."

Say there y'all... if you really apply yourselves... led by the American ReNazi Party... and its legion of creeps, y'all can get back to the Dark Ages by, oh, around 2020.

The Red-Staters are leading the way - backwards and downwards...

Getting there... redouble efforts: more war on science, more dumbing down, more war on Terra, more mythical biblical blather unworthy of any intelligent 4-year old, more corporate gangsterism, more billions upon billions upon billions for more and more weapons systems, etc., etc. etc.

Why settle for being the Greatest Nation In The Dumpster? It's Dark Ages Or (And) Bust !

Clinton has taken Kentucky and Obama is right there in Oregon.
The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates – as CNN points out clearly

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/20/primary.wrap/index.html

If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama

If you haven't done so yet, please write a message to each of your state's superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

Obama Supporters:

Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It's that easy...

Clinton Supporters too …. !

It takes a moment, but what's a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !

Sending a note to current Clinton supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Obama supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Clinton, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Clinton. It's that easy...
