UPDATE: Obama has picked up another superdelegate from Oregon.

Barack Obama has picked up a series of superdelegates this morning, one of which at the expense of Sen. Clinton.

Today, two California superdelegates endorsed Obama, Reps. Jim Costa and Dennis Cardoza. Cadoza has previously endorsed Hillary Clinton.

In addition, two of John Edwards' New Hampshire delegates, who have since been designated as unpledged delegates, endorsed Obama.

Cardoza:

"This is the most important election of my lifetime. While I continue to greatly respect and admire Senator Clinton and feel she has made history with her campaign, I believe that Senator Obama will inevitably be our party's nominee for President. He has proven himself to be a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and inspirational leader and will take America in a new direction, which we desperately need."

Costa:

"In my conversations with Senator Obama, I explained to him that our San Joaquin Valley is the number one agricultural region in the country and in the world. Before the election in November, he needs to come to our Valley and understand the water challenges we face, the diversity of our farm crops, and the combination of the wonderful ethnic communities that make up Valley families, which is truly a reflection of our nation."

What is it that you respect in MRS Clinton? She has made history in many ways: running on her husband's credentials, mismanaging a campaign that was hers to lose, fabricating information even to the degree where most politicians would find excessive. she is pure scum.

Oh it warms my heart to see previous Hillary supporters switch camps for Obama. It's going to take his assassination (God forbid) for her to be nominated. And if indeed something as tragic as that happened, it's really difficult to see her leading the Dem's in November after what she said about RFK.
Have I finally seen the last nail being driven into her tired, old coffin?

As of May 27, 7:00 A.M. Obama needs 46 delegates to win the nomination. Clinton? 246.

Nonconformist,

No this has been going on for some fifteen months, not five months. Don't get discouraged, this will end, and if Americans are smart and not gullible, as the Clintons seem to believe, just think about the outcome.

maybe Senator Obama supporters and super delegates should read this (fresh from England) before they decide what is driving the race:

Kiga,

Sorry to say, but this is just more rhetoric by Hillary's supporters. In this day and age you have to be very careful what you "hear" and what you "listen" to.

By the way, Hillary is very far from being the victim, she is the sole person responsible for Barack's having to agree to more and more Federal Body Guards.

Dear God Please protect Barack and his family from all of these people who want to hurt them, just so that Hillary Clinton can satisfy the American women's dream. Please God take care of Barack and his family!

Thank you for this link to an interesting article...I do agree that sexism towards Sen. Clinton as described in this artilce is well founded..
We support Sen. Obama because after 8 years of George Bush we don't want to look back.
We don't want to see Bill anymore. Or Albright,, or Carville, or Monica.
We;re impressed with Obama's speeches to the Cuban residents of Florida....different, fresh.
After Sen. Clinton jumped on the McCain banwagon for the 18% gas tax holiday, I found Sen. Obama's rejection of that folly different, fresh.
Just as sad as the media's sexist attitude towards Clinton is the in your face racist comments made by certain voters in Appalachia...who may have supported Clinton in the primaries but would most certainly vote for McCain in the fall...old, stale.

I'm sorry, but the Brits don't know what is going on here. It is natural to paint the loser out to be the victim, but you can't objectively observe the ugly faces that have been revealed during this race, and point one out one and ignore the other. Barack and Hillary have each withstood great prejudice and bias throughout their campaigns. The only difference between the two is that victors are never seen as victims. Sexism and Racism are each great evils in any country - even England. They are equally unacceptable and equal in strength.

Has this primary contest been going on only 5 months? It feels like 5 years. I'm starting to feel as old as McCain. Well, maybe not THAT old. The superdelegates can bite me. I am so sick of talking about them, speculating about them, psychoanalyzing them. The rest of us voted when it was our turn, why can't they get off their butts and do their duty.

These superdelegates should all lose their jobs if Obama is defeated by McCain in November.

I'm just saying, how "super" is picking a loser?

Hello? Did we fall asleep during West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, etc. etc.?

It was a Democratic Primary, genius. They are both supposed to be Democrats. That is not the general against McSame. There is a difference.

The superdelegates should flock to Obama because Clinton's excercise in futility gets more ridiculous with each passing day. She is doing more harm to the Party than good. Obama can beat McCain in the general, but the reason why people can't see that is because he unlike traditional democrats will win in a few states they could never win in. The newly registered voters and union voters are his wild card in many of these states. How Obama arrives at the magic number of 270 delegates in the general election is going to shock people because he is going to be all over the map. They keep talking about the importance of Florida to both Campaigns, but Florida is way more important to McCain. I myself figured out two electorial paths to victory for Obama without Florida. On the other hand, McCain has no path without Florida. If Florida were to shift to Obama in the general, you will see McCain concede long before all the results of the Western states are in.

Every single objective political observer, who understands how campaigns work has stated that you can't measure how a candidate will do in the general by how they did against their opponent in primaries. It's apples and oranges. Right now, voters are choosing between two candidates who have almost the exact same stand on the issues. It's a whole different ball game when you get to the general. Any democrat will easily win New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania (even Kerry won Pennsylvania). No democrat will win West Virginia, Kentucky or Indiana. Ohio has always been a swing state. States that Obama may swing his way include: Virginia, Wisconsin, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, Kansas, Iowa to name a few. Just because a pundit claims something, doesn't make it so. I prefer to listen to objective observations and make up my mind accordingly.

Thank you, nc2. I keep harping on this point. We have here two independent events (Democratic primary/caucus and 'publican primary/caucus). Voters may choose one or the other, not both. Candidates compete only with opponents from their own party. Thus, performance in a primary/caucus has zero relevance in the general election.

Example: Mr. Obama won Utah 57% to 39% over Mrs. Clinton. Does anyone believe that Mr. Obama, let alone any Democrat, will carry Utah over a 'publican? Utah is red almost to the point of being black. (Disclaimer: given the disaster of the current misadministration, I suppose an entirely blue map IS possible.) Will a 'publican carry Massachusetts against any Democrat?

No, we did not fall asleep you idiot. You are so dumb stuck on winning. He has won twice as many states as she. And if you are gonna pick a handful of hers, here are a handful of his,, Wisconsin, Oregon, North/South Carolina, Washington, Virginia etc. Don't be mad, she just got beat. People just got tired of her sleazy dirt.

Also, she can't manage a campaign, she surrounds herself with a sorry team. Is that who you want to run this country aground? The country is already in bad shape, we don't need someone to make it worse.

Starrianna,
come back to earth, and give Americans a chance to choose between the fare and square winners of each of the parties come November. You may not believe it now, but McCain is not going to look so good going up against any Democrat with the entire party behind him or her.

Having her on the ticket would be a grave mistake, she already stated she wanted him assasinated! Billary would do everything in their power to undermine his presidency! He is strong enough to win without her. Jeepers Creepers read the correct poles!

Clinton has taken Kentucky and Obama is right there in Oregon.
The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates – as CNN points out clearly

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/20/primary.wrap/index.html

If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama

If you haven't done so yet, please write a message to each of your state's superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

Obama Supporters:

Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It's that easy...

Clinton Supporters too …. !

It takes a moment, but what's a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !

Sending a note to current Clinton supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Obama supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Clinton, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Clinton. It's that easy...

If Hillary is this tired already and making comments like this out of "fatigue" as Obama graciously suggested. If she wins will she just go on vacation like Bush did???

Let's not get too excited, folks. In ten days, the last votes will have been cast. That is then the time to lobby the uncommitted superdelegates to make a choice, and to gently encourage those who committed early to Clinton out of loyalty to switch to the winning team. It will be all over in early June, and then we will have the task of uniting our party behind the candidacy of the next president of the United States, Barack Obama. Please avoid gloating or antagonizing the Clinton supporters. Now is the time for graciousness. Those of us who have been around politics for a while know that it is very tough to lose a close race. Say something nice - extend an olive branch. We very much need the Clinton supporters to help us beat John McCain in November. Thank you.

A story no one is looking at here yet is that Obama may be forging a new coalition of voters such that he will not need the Clintonistas in November. Perhaps the era of the dominance of the babyboomers, the DLC, the Reagan Democrats is just over. Perhaps the Party is beyond that. I think it is. I still predict an Obama landslide in November.

This is true. Some of the anxiety is egged on by the media and some by the Clintons still sounding so divisive. But I am willing to wait until June 3rd or 4th, just not much longer. I am so weary of this fighting between democrats.

My plea is to Al Gore and other influential superdelegates. Please put an end to the Clinton madness. Her team is not serving her well, and I can only attribute this to the fact that some of them are earning millions; i.e. Mark Penn (remember him). There must be some voices of reason out there.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:13 PM on 05/25/2008

do you actually believe that the micro managing MRS Clinton is not directing her team? She is directing it badly but she is in charge; their sole purpose to to take the blame for her stupidity.
