AFP:

The Pentagon cannot account for nearly 15 billion dollars in payments for goods and services in Iraq, according to an internal audit which members of Congress blasted Friday as a "shocking" accountability failure.

Of 8.2 billion dollars in US taxpayer-funded defense contracts reviewed by the defense department's inspector general, the Pentagon could not properly account for more than 7.7 billion dollars.

This one good reason to STOP PAYING OUR TAXES. Will the next President do something about this fraud???

Last week President Bush appointed two members to the Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Grant S. Green is an ex-Undersecretary of State while Dov. S. Zakheim is the ex-Chief Financial Officer of the Pentagon. Both served from 2001 through 2004, over half the time of the study in question. Both the State and Defense Departments are big spenders in Iraq.

Here's my question. If they couldn't ensure proper spending when it fit into their job description, how can they do so now as a member of the Commission? It looks another Bush fox appointment for the federal chicken ranch, especially as both men now work as private consultants for their defense industry clients.

Not long ago George W. tapped Gen. Peter Pace and Frances Townsend for his Intelligence Advisery Board. If there's one thing President Bush likes, it's yes men and women. It seems he has two more.

Actually, it's easily explained: 15 new neocon billionaires laughing all the way to the bank while the idiots who voted for Bush/Cheney don't know how to pay the mortgage...

This is the problem with over-funding the MIlitary-Industrial Complex. No one provides proper accounting for their part of the pie. Yet, these same schmucks will hollar like the dickens about welfare moms and welfare fraud whose scale probably pales in comparison to their waste and fraud. Our pre-occupation with providing for the common defense is way out of proportion!

We need a REVOLUTION, the kind that puts the te?ds that be, either in prison or in the gr??nd. What if somebody gave a REVOLUTION and nearly everybody came, what a thought. We are reaching a critical mass in our country and the status quo will be the death of us all if we don't do something fast. These people have been robbing us on a grand scale and our representatives have been standing there and watching it happen. They need to pull their heads out of their as??s and get the ball rolling because when this ship sinks we all go down together, everyone needs to think about that and get good and mad
like I am. I truly resent a bunch elected criminals ( the bush gang from DC BG/DC) destroying the America that I served in the Marine Corps to protect. I have never felt so bad about the future of this
country in my life. Semper Fi

Iraq's oil production, where are the profits going to? Who are the procurators? Are these profits being mishandled?

Iraq is the largest shell game ever concocted or conceived. 15 billion is pocket money in the scheme of schemes. What about the billions siphoned off into the privatized military sector, or the billions wasted on egregiously substandard constructions projects, or the billions fleeced for $100 bags of laundry and no-bid cost plus contracts? Every aspect of the Iraq war has been carefully engineered to steal as much money from the American tax payer and give it to the wealthy, which is why you don't hear the upper crust making so much as a peep of noise over Iraq. Taxes have never been lower in a time of war, and they are the end game recipients of the war's unparalleled handouts.

only 15B are you kidding? This is not a war it is not an occupation, it is a money laundering scheme! Cayman Island bank accounts to avoid paying taxes, shoddy, incomplete or fraudulent work, cronies working for the government, then contractors then back in the government again.

If you think the 15B is bad watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kpWqdPMjmo

Yep, nothing more than the biggest heist in history. They make fun of dictators doing the same thing, but Bush/Cheney are no different, maybe worse. They've stolen or misappropriated at least hundereds of billions in just 5-6 years.

The Bush Crime Family has been pillaging the UA Treasury. This is the tip of the iceberg.

We impeach a president for commiting adultry on his wife by way of BJ("oh he lied") but we give the fool in office a free ride when it comes to our hard earned money thats mispent, stolen or lost? Lies told to our face and laws on the books that are broken claiming executive priv. Where is the outrage? Double-standards when it comes to Democrats and Republicans.

Most likely, Bush got a lot of blackmail evidence during the warrantless wiretapping at the start of his reign. THAT'S probably why "impeachment is off the table."

My God, how can we justify giving this administration one penny more. No more Mcbush..Bush is a total incompetent, and McCain wants us to elect him president so he can continue hisstupid, putrid policies. Are we so afraid, and dumb enough to do so? I hope not. But I also hoped we would not re-elect this idiot in 2004. America get a grip on yourself. Let go of your racist fears, and elect a man who gives the hope of the return to values we have held dear in the past. In this election year let us bury the republican party that has profited on fear.
