GOP Targets Al Franken's Playboy "Porn-O-Rama" Column

ABC News:

Al Franken is a funny man, but Minnesota voters might not see the humor in a column that the former Saturday Night Live star -- and current candidate for the United States Senate -- wrote in Playboy magazine in 2000.

On Thursday, the Minnesota Republican Party released a letter, signed by six prominent GOP women, including a state senator and state representative, calling on Franken to apologize for his "demeaning and degrading" article.

A pretty easy choice for voters in Minn.

They can pick their current Senator Coleman-= who sent fellow Minn. men and women to die in Bush's pointless oil war, gave Minn. men and women's tax $ to the rich at the expense of road repair and BRIDGE MAINTANENCE, and who's party apparently thinks it's okay for their senators to troll for gay sex in Minn public bathrooms.

I can't believe that there are republican women. Considering the track record of the republicans against women, don't they have any self respect? Have they been through the stepford program? If they support republicans because of the tax breaks, don't they know that the economy is crumbling so they won't have to worry about how large their tax breaks are? With a wide brush, Al has been painted as a bad candidate because he allegedly wrote something that the GOP says is porn. Given the track record of the GOP for the last 50 years, I have severe reservations about taking their word about anything, including any allegations they want to make about someone opposing a GOP candidate.

If the GOP wants to be judge, jury, and executioner for Al's campaign, maybe they could, at the very least, provide to the public some evidence? You know, something besides allegations? Oh, I forgot, that's not how the GOP dirty tricks and lie machine works.

I have never heard him say anything funny.....­..ever. I tried to find humor in what he has said, but it always fell short.

At NO point, ladies and germs, did the ABC article quote a SINGLE LINE from Franken's satire -- not a single blessed line!!! The entire article -- the ENTIRE ARTICLE! -- is taken up with a lengthy repetition of the GOP's attack on Franken. And you wonder what is wrong with the MSM?

It sounds to me like the GOP is pissed off that Franken has been married to the same woman for over 30 years and they can't slime him with a sex scandal.

He graduated Cum Laude from Harvard, he has 2 well adjusted adult children, is well liked by everyone that knows him. He has no skeletons in his closet and they can't dig up real dirt on him so they need to resort to fictional characters and parody to slime him.

Is there really any doubt now that the Republican party is feeling desperate, backed into a corner and willing to go to any lengths to destroy what is good about America?
