Patrick

"Dirty Dancing" star Patrick Swayze, 55, made his first public appearance since announcing in March he is battling pancreatic cancer.

Swayze took time off from his grueling chemotherapy regimen to take in Friday night's NBA playoff game in Los Angeles between the Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs.

Sitting with his wife of 32 years, Lisa Niemi, Swayze watched as the Lakers won in a blowout, 101-71.

Although Swayze's usually ripped physique seems somewhat shrunken, he appears to be holding his own against the usually aggressive cancer that often kills within weeks.

I would not have wanted a photo taken of me dealing with lithotripsy of a kidney stone let alone cancer. Who are these people who prey on others misfortune. The guy is in a battle for his life, show some compassion and respect and leave him alone.

I would expect nothing less from Rupert Murdoch's rag, the New York Post.

Some people have no shame........

Nobody is blaming the victim. This is a fight. We've known this before, and it is a past struggle - or lack of hope/ vs. real medical technology that works - where some patients were unaware - of success stories -that makes new patient's give up.

Disgusting. Please leave this man alone!

Thoughts and prayers to his family.

To the press, leave this man to live his life.

I agree competely. This should not even be here on Huggington,

Then he shouldn't be at Laker games at courtside. The press ALWAYS goes stargazing at Laker games and takes pics of all of them. So get over it

I saw this from the front page and felt the need to comment. Why is this picture on here at all? Is this "News?" In any sense of the word? How sick to post these photos for no other reason than to . . . what? I can't see any legitimate reason except to exploit this man's condition.

Is that what Huffpo is about now? Exploiting the illness of others just to get someone to click?

Disgusting how predatory some people stoop to be........let him die without invading his privacy. We don't need to see PS deteriorate.

He isn't dying. He's responding to treatment very well. They look good for what they have been through. Stop counting the guy out.

but I do feel he deserves his privacy right now.
he should be able to go out in public without everyone in the world dissecting.

I'm all for Celeb Snark - but there are certain lines that make me uncomfortable.
children of celebs should be hands-off, period
celebs who are grieving a death or fighting a terminal illness should be hands-off

just my opinion.

Pancreatic sounds like a nasty one.

From what I understand, by the time they detect it, they can't do much about it.

Billy Carter had it and maybe one or two other Carters.

I remember President Carter did Public Service Announcements about it for awhile.

You know the really strange thing is he played a cancer patient in MASH. I am sort of glad they showed pictures of him. I had forgotten about this story. But now it makes me want to donate to St. Jude's or City of Hope. It reminds me that I am mortal.

Good luck Swayze, you're as cool as God makes em ...

I AGREE!

ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE HAVE NOT MAKE more SIGNIFICANT STRIDES Towards finding cures for a canser, IS THE POLITICS aspect of it PUSH BY THE INSURANCE & DRUG Companies spending BILLIONS of Dollars Lobbying Congress and politicians in Washington to block Reforms etc!!

They're relatives get cancer too and so do they. Everyone wants a cure. I don't believe that.

Every women I knew growing up loved Patrick after "Ghost" and esp. "Dirty Dancing!" All of them. Leave that man alone, Please. Here in Oklahoma, we just lost a legend of a man, Jack Mildren last thursday at 58 because of cancer.

Leave him alone - this is an appalling invasion, not journalism. I don't need to see pictures like this, at all, ever, of any human being on earth.

Except, possibly, bush, cheney, rice, rove, limbaugh, and/or the rest of the axis of true evil.

HuffPost is really turning me off lately. Tabloidy is what it has become - sickening.

Leave the man alone.

I find it disturbing that writers/photographers get their jollies watching someone's pain and then use their sick kicks to make money.
