LONDON — A British teenage actor playing a minor role in the upcoming "Harry Potter" film was stabbed to death during a brawl in London on Saturday, police said.

Rob Knox, 18, was stabbed after he got caught up in a fight outside a bar in southwest London early Saturday, London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Knox plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby in the upcoming film "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince," the sixth installment of the popular series set for release in November.

Warner Bros., the studio that is producing the film, said it was shocked by the news.

Knox was one of five young men taken to various hospitals after the brawl, police said. Among them was a 21-year-old who has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The fight did not appear to be gang-related, police added, but it puts the number of violent teenage deaths in London at 14 so far this year.

But gee, don't they have gun control there?

He was stabbed.
14 teenage violence deaths, that's pretty high for London, about two weeks for Chicago.

This is certainly a sad story, but could the headline be more misleading? Not only was this kid playing a completely tangential role in the movie (Google Marcus Belby), but it's in a movie that hasn't even been released yet. So it's pretty much guaranteed that no person reading the article will recognize him as a "Harry Potter actor" at all. But I guess it gets more clicks than "British Teen Stabbed"

London appears far too violent of a place for me to go and 21 is too old for Harry Potter

London is no worse off than Chicago, Los Angeles or Oklahoma City, for that matter.

And the kid was 18, not 21.

14 teenage deaths in London so far this year.
Compared to large U.S. cities, London is a peaceful paradise.

This is starting to become an epidemic. Everytime I read the local paper(on line) some twenty-something is getting killed while out "Looking for the heart of a Saturday night."

GET A GRIP.............it's about going out and having fun. You know, shake a hand make a friend..........a brother or sister from another mother type of deal. WHO THE HELL ARE THESE PEOPLE WHO KILL other people? Aren't you supposed to listen to great bands, dance, and meet someone and fall in love, or just hang out and have fun?

Apparently, these kids don't know how to party appropriately. KILLING AND GUNS are not part of the equation. IF YOU WANT TO KILL OR BE KILLED there are plenty of gov't eager to slap a uniform on your punk-ass, or join uh, join the private corporations that kill for mega-profits. SHEESH, THE INFLUENCE HERE IS OBVIOUS............stop identifying with the killing culture.......it's on its way OUT!!

All you kids who are NOT part of the GUN TOTING ANGRY HOSTILE TOXIC TWENTY SUBCULTURE must be out partying in the woods, or at the beach, or up in the mountains. Can't blame you. Who wants to go out to a meat-market-violent-gun culture club and get shot, and/or killed.

SHAPE UP, GROW SOME ETHICS, INTEGRITY, and CHARACTER or stay the hell home.

That's not the London I grew up in. In my teens (late 1960s) I could roam London with impunity at any hour. Bloody shame.

Violence is replacing all other things being shown to us in the media. We are poisoned with shooter games and History Channel shows all depicting our vast skill at doing harm to one another.

It is by design.

An ugly lesson in why movies such as the "Harry Potter" series are so attractive: Unlike in reality, in the movies evil never triumphs.

UGLY LESSON? You mean the 'Jack the Ripper' lesson we American's learned from the English- London movies?
Get it right.

??? We have enough Ugly Lessons in Reality here in the US, and they involve guns and nooses.
Don;t worry about London's back yard-- take a look at your own.
