Rove On This Week

There has been increasing controversy over Fox News' refusal to identify Karl Rove, who is a political analyst for Fox, as an informal adviser to John McCain's campaign. Well, today Rove appeared on This Week with George Stephanopoulus, and Stephanopoulus did what Fox has so far refused to do: he identified Rove as an "informal adviser" McCain. Rove denied it, and when Stephanopoulus said that he passes information onto the campaign and gives them advice, Rove called it just "chit-chat."

Well, its 'just chit-chat' but what do you think being an informal advisor is?

Does, anybody, really doubt that when Rove is dispensing his 'chit chat' the folks in the McCain campaign aren't listing very carefully, and likely also taking notes?

This revelation identifying Rove as an adviser to McCain helps to solidify the McCain/Bush connection -- McBush -- that appears to be shaping up as an important part of the Democrats campaign against McCain -- that Americans don't want a third (or fourth) Bush term. And the fact that Rove refers to his discussions or meetings with McCain as just "chit-chat" can be legitimately interpreted or construed as being just the opposite -- of having strategic importance -- given the veracity, or lack thereof, of the source.

"Rove called it just "chit-chat."

As usual, he underestimates the intelligence of the majority of Americans.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, THE TRUTH IS THE GREATEST ENEMY OF THE STATE." -- Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945

He's adhering to a well mapped out strategy in a cold, calculating, business like way, you know, professional. The real consequences can't outweigh the strategic gains, big or small. Like many keep saying, dictatorships follow a blueprint and this "person" is very familiar with it.

Good for you, George.

BTW, we have the explanation for why Kantor whispered what he whispered in the disputed video.

It sounds bad, but it wasn't meant the way it came off, right? The secret is safe with us.

Americans,
Are we gonna let this slime ball ruin the country even further? We need to defend this country from enemies within. Rove is an enemy of the people. If he wins again, we can expect more soldiers dying in Iraq and a war with Iran which will bankrupt us and reinstate the draft.
Mobilize. Get the vote out. Volunteer.
Now is the time for patriots to step up.

Mcain can have Rove, matter of fact..... the more the better for the democrats and the nation. Rove and his "machine" have proven to be a total failure. Check the 06 elections. He has no ideas, no vision, no stratagy except to build a racist, homophobic, anti american, law breaking republican party. When the only support you have comes from the southern most of the southern states, your goose is cooked.

This is actually funny coming from Stephanopoulos, given his obvious "advisership" to Senator Clinton.

Go back and watch ABC's hosted Democratic Debate with Charlie Gibson and Stephanopoulos asking questions of Clinton and Obama. It's so blatantly obvious that Clinton answered Stephanopoulos's questions like she'd seen them beforehand. It was not so of how she answered Gibson's questions.

These people have turned out democracy and our government into a joke.

The best way to get back at unscrupulous journalists like Gibson and Stephanopoulos as well as opportunistic propagandist like O'Reily, Dobbs and Hanity is to not watch their broadcasts. Ten million people watched the ABC debate; just think how much ad revenue the network earned in that 90 minutes with frequent commercial breaks. A portion of that ad revenue goes towards supporting the multi million dollars salaries that anchors like Gibson, Stephanopoulos etc get.

However, refusing to watch certain cable news or network news broadcasts is not enough. A portion of your COMCAST or DISH Network monthly bill goes towards the salaries of these scoundrels I've mentioned above. We really need to lobby the powers that be whereby we can drop the channels we refuse to pay for instead of having them bundled up into packages that are then shoved down our throats.

I agree with you. I called my cable provider years ago and asked to have Fox News removed from my cable package and they would not do it. I objected and they still would not do it, so I removed th entire cable network instead.

Would have appreciated George if he had delved a bit into the Clinton camp where when they began gearing up for HRC's WH run acknowledged they ADMIRED Rove and his abilities and his track record that produced "results" and THEY HAD BEEN STUDYING IT and the hows and etc of such. Its been curious that the Bush elder gave a "pass" to HRC, even Bill gets noted as an add-on Bush brother and ROve and others have spoken quite magnanimously of HRC and how truly admirable and formidible a cnadidate they find her for the 2008 vote scene....The Clintons have been given such ridiculous leeway in coverage that has been far more sympathetic and rarely held them accountable no matter the screw ups in this campaign roll out...Kinda scarey when boserving all the shananighans..wondering if we the people really DO have a chance for our votes actually counting...Seems the Clintons were ok until out votes started adding up to their rejection ~~!!

Stephanopoulus actually acted like a journalist when he identified Rove as an informal advisor and later questioned Rove about his role in the Alabama governor's conviction on bribery.

It was so unusual to see a Bush official questioned with journalistic intelligence and integrity that I can only assume that either George grew a pair or that Rove is so disgraced politically that even stenographers feel like it's safe to go after him.

The problem I have with George is he let Rove get away with saying that Obama handn't accomplished anything in the Senate. But George still challenge Rove on other matters like the Siegleman case which Rove wouldn't deny his involvement.

Hmmm......just what has Obama accomplished in his 98 minutes in the Senate? Besides giving his Speech at the convention, name one thing.
