Kirsten Dunst is hard at work shooting her next movie, All Good Things, on New York's Upper West Side.

But she's decided to focus on something else today--opening up to dispel rumors and tabloid reports that she sought help earlier this year at Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah due to alcoholism and substance abuse.

"I didn't go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse," Dunst tells me exclusively during a lunch break on All Good Things. "I went there for depression."

Loveableloser

Did you actually do some investigative reporting and found that Kirsten Dunst was lying? I have to take Ms. Dunst at her word. I'm proud that she took the courage to admit why she visited Cirque Lounge.

Perhaps you need to heed your own advice and not talk out of your butt. Maybe you won't embarrass yourself on such blogs.

All you need is love. Love is all you need.

There is a rehab for depression?

Denial, or not wanting to talk about her issues in public?

She is f-ing smoking hot. I'd be happy to cheer her up.

Good work, Kirsten.

Tough choice to have to make. Either she goes public about what should be a very private issue, or she gets her name and rep dragged through the mud with the other hollywood half-wits who just can't seem to rehab their way back to respectability.

Tough choice and she did well with it. Good on ya lass.

She has so much to be depressed about.
Being over paid to play dress-up.
Being able to live securely for the rest of her life on the money she made at an early age for literally a few months work.

She should try raising a family on what they pay a teacher, or civil servant, or firefighter, or policeman/woman. She should have to worry about rising food, medical care and gas costs, etc. Then she might have something to be depressed about. I don't want to hear or read another word about these overindulged spoiled brats who have not the least sense of reality. F*-k 'em.

Depression isn't always about what kind of life you have. It's more about your reaction to it, which is not entirely up to your control..

Neurotransmitters, baby.

Things are not always as they seem. I had people say to me "what do YOU have to be depressed about?"
Depression is wrapped up in the events of one's life, one's entire life, and then the other part too...imbalances. There is some guilt associated with depression also, and some shame. It is hard to explain to anyone who has never experienced it.
My son loves this actress. I hope she finds the help she needs. I hope her privacy will be respected.

who cares.
do we really have to hear about everyone's rehab?
can these people please get over themselves and do some volunteer or charity work?
Enough already.

She made a pass at my 20-year old son last year when he was working at a movie studio! But he said she wasn't his type...he only likes brunettes.

Congratulations to her for recognizing the problem and seeking help in coping with it, rather than self-medicating to the point of headlines of her demise from an OD or suicide.

I wish her nothing but the best.

how ridiculous that she even has to comment on her private life... we live in a messed up culture where medical diagnoses can't be left private

Depression is horrible - I wish her well.

Kirsten, Kirsten...keep your lip zipped about your personal life, girl...we all know that noone is admitted to a drug and alcohol treatment facility for "depression", any more than people are admitted to acute hospitals for "exhaustion".

PUHLEEZ.

Celebrities, take note: You are right, your personal issues are none of our business. But instead of issuing ridiculous and emberassing statements like the one above, simply say: "No comment."

Just a tip...

Huh...so the possibility that Kirsten Dunst sought help in a preemptive fashion is impossible to believe, eh?

My, I'm glad that I'm charitable enough that I at least went to see if the Cirque Lodge treated mood disorders before I jumped to any conclusions...
