I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Sharon Stone China

Last week in Cannes at the annual amFAR fundraiser for which she annually plays auctioneer, Sharon Stone chatted her way down the red carpet. Stopping to talk to a cluster of microphones, she was asked about the Chinese earthquake, the death toll for which tops 67,000 with over 20,000 still missing.
As seen below (on a Chinese broadcast, so excuse the Chinese introduction), Stone was asked her thoughts about the quake, wondered aloud if it was karma, and said the following:

"Well, you know, it was very interesting, because at first I am not happy about the way Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anybody should be unkind to anybody else... Then I've been concerned about how should we deal with the Olympics because they're not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who's a good friend of mine. And then all this earthquake, and all this stuff happened, I thought, is that karma? When you are not nice, the bad things happen to you. And then I got a letter from the Tibetan foundation that they wanted to go and be helpful, and that made me cry... That was a big lesson to me."

Another "Hollywood type" shows her wisdom. Is it any wonder that they tend to be liberal and leftist?

Like Charleton Heston and Bruce Willis? Two "Hollywood types" that were as right-wing as you could get.

Another Hollywood "type"---Gov. Schwarzenegger! We're stuck with him for now.
And don't forget Reagan, who was manufactured and groomed by the extreme right wing to "govern" California, then the U.S.A.

She looks great for someone who is over...?...what? Anyway, according to Buddhist teaching there is such a thing a COLLECTIVE karma, but you can't make a linear connection between the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans and the earthquake. The people who died in the Chinese earthquake had no direct role in oppressing the Tibetans. It is a lot more complicated than that. The Buddha said that you can't explain karma in too much detail. You just have to believe that your actions have consequences that can sometimes appear only in the far future. Interestingly this is not that different from the Christian teaching of having to settle one's accounts on Judgment Day. That is kind of like karma too.

Rev. Wright: 911 (2700 innocent people dead), is that Kharma? = BAD American
Sharon Stone: earthquake in China (70000 innocent people dead), is that Kharma? = caring American

And you wonder why people around the world don't like you?

Why Hollywood should not be involved in politics. Just because you can show emotion reading lines doesn't mean that you aren't retarded.

Why you should not be involved in politics. You're a fascist and a racist who believes it's perfectly OK to kill innocent Iraqi civilians. See related thread.

If you are referring to Sharon Stone as not being smart, then you know nothing about her because she happens to be extremely smart and a very high IQ and if you read the actual story, she cleared up her intent.

I'm sad for her and others who don't realize that governments make polices that are good or bad for citizens in their own or other countries. If Karma exists, logically it would affect the people involved and not the innocent - in this case the innocent, powerless mothers and children killed in this tragic earthquake.

Laughable that Sharon Stone is so quick to throw out the Dhali Lama is a friend of hers, yet the simple concept of being nice and forgiving in times of need even to people who aren't nice to you is some how an epiphany for her.

Yeah, seriously HuffPo. She clearly wasn't saying it was Karma, she was saying that she was wrong to think it was.

The title is a bit misleading. Reading her entire quote, it appears she learned a lesson from her friends in Tibet when they offered to help despite what the Chinese have done to them over the years. It actually sounds like a story of personal awakening to me.
