Clay Aiken

TMZ broke the story of Clay's impending fatherhood:

TMZ has learned Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy. In case you didn't process that, Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy.

Here's what we know. Multiple sources tell us the mother is Jaymes Foster, a record producer and Clay's best friend. He lives at her home when he's in L.A.

We're told Foster, who produced several Aiken CDs, is due in August. She's the sister of record mogul David Foster. We're told she's in her late 40's, though we could not confirm her exact age. She divorced a few years back and has no kids. Aiken is 29.

People then confirmed the story:

"The story is true," Bill Vigars, a Vancouver-based rep for David Foster, told PEOPLE Wednesday, of the TMZ.com report that Aiken, 29, impregnated David's sister, music producer Jaymes Foster. "It is true Clay is the father. She was artificially inseminated by Clay. She's due in August."

Vigers added of Aiken and Foster, "They have been friends ever since American Idol, when they worked together."

Foster also executive produced Aiken's album A Thousand Different Ways.

I feel guilt over commenting on the private life of a pop star, but this story bothers me.

Clay gets creepier by the day. I liked him better when he was a dorky asexual redneck with no sense of style and lots of love for Jesus and grandma, at least then he was real. Fame really has not done anything good for this guy. It's glammed him up a bit, but he still looks extremely uncomfortable in his own skin.

I'm old fashioned. I don't think he should be having a baby with this old lady friend. If he wants to be a father, he should find a committed husband with the same values, and then adopt. Instead, he's pulling a Michael Jackson. Clay Aiken does not need to procreate. There are plenty of kids out there that need homes. If he's good with kids, then good on him, but why does he need to be a father at 29 if he's still not comfortable in his own skin? If he's still too ridden with guilt and shame to come out of the closet? If he's still a sad child on the inside with capped-teeth and platinum hair and foundation on the outside?

Oh, be nice. He may not be our cuppa tea, but he seems to be a very nice person.

Congratulations to him and his best friend.

This is icky. The woman could have adopted. There are lots of unwanted kids out there in desperate need of a home. The baby's parents are not married or even really in a committed relationship. It's dangerous for a woman in her late forties to have a baby.

this is exactly why we should protect the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman for procreation purposes. it's all about the CHILDREN!

how is that any different than an arranged marriage? emotion is not always in the equation in marriage or when procreating. it is time to get beyond the leave it to beaver version of families that was never the norm in the first place.

psggoodguy. Sorry but your opinion is extremely ill informed and, well, bigoted. Firstly, your church should santify marriage - not the government. So if your church does not want to sanctify gay marriage so be it. But in a free democracy no group under any circumstances should be legally denied privlieges others have. Secondly, if mariage is for procreation purposes, what, exactly, would you say to those who biologically cannot procreate? According to you they should not be allowed to marry since they cannot have children. Or what exactly would you say to those older citizens who are beyond the age of procreation? According to you, they should not marry. Think about it. Your bias is clouding your common sense, assuming you have some.

and they didn't even have to touch each other's nasties.

this takes the process of creating pop stars to a new level. i wonder if future royalties are included in the contract they drew up...
