Mcclellan

In an interview with USA Today on Thursday, Scott McClellan declared that while he respects John McCain he is also "intrigued by Obama."

He also mentioned his interest in Obama during an ABC News interview aired Thursday evening in which he added that he had not made up his mind about whether to vote Democrat or Republican in the upcoming election.

Watch the video:

Here's the transcript from ABC:

MARTHA RADDATZ: What do you think of John McCain?
SCOTT McCLELLAN: Uh, I have a lot of respect and admiration for Senator McCain. Um, I, he's...
MARTHA RADDATZ: Would you like him to be President?
SCOTT McCLELLAN: He's someone that, uh, has governed from the center. Uh, I haven't made a decision, in the presidential election. Uh, I...

MARTHA RADDATZ: It's possible you could vote for a Democrat?
SCOTT McCLELLAN: I, I'm intrigued by Senator Obama's message. Uh, whether or not he can act- actually accomplish it is another thing. As I show in this book, it's a very difficult thing to try to change things in Washington. And you better have a way to do it, and you better constantly focus, focus on it.

MARTHA RADDATZ: So, you haven't made up your mind about a candidate, which means you haven't decided whether you'll vote Democrat or go Republican?

SCOTT McCLELLAN: I haven't made any decision.

There is only one issue that has not been discussed....loyalty.

Many believe that it is an admirable trait and should be honored at all costs. I disagree. The Richard Nixon needed loyal people. Bill Clinton also needed loyal people.
Loyalty is a prize only when you are trying to protect yourself against something that is true.

We ask our politicians to pledge loyalty to one thing and that is the interest of the American people.

I wish people would learn to praise what this man has done and not denounce him for his lack of loyalty.

Disloyalty to the president you serve should be considered a sign of character and not a sign of a scoundrel.

To believe that he lacks character is to fall for more of the same talking points that he laid out and denounced.

Right on. Loyalty must be earned and re-earned. To "demand" loyalty is ultimately self-defeating.

I agree and understand your concern but I think of the business model loyalty used in strategic management in which partner’s resources are employed in order to increase the loyalty of the partnership and other stakeholders in the expectation that the main objectives will be met or surpassed. Services leading to satisfaction, which leads to loyalty, which leads to profitability.

No president lead a country alone why I do consider that a president has to collaborate with loyal peoples but even with enemies as well while trusting to other collaborators and trusting to his own judgement. BUT What Scott could help with IS MY CONCERN TOO.

AS WE KNOW SOME LOYALTIES ARE RELATIVES TO THE BUSINESS WE HAVE TO PROTECT.
SOMETIMES SOME PEOPLES ARE BADLY THREATENED IN ORDER TO KEEP THEM LOYAL

BUT I APPRECIATE THE IDEAL OF OUR CONCERN - WHY CAST him, now under the bus. THE GUY IS READY TO SWITCH TO MCCAIN OR TO OBAMA.... SO, WE TAKE IT OR LIVE IT but the risk for loyalty is also even as high with anyone ready to switch to Obama. As you know, Character is a good sign. Remember Plato said that only a man who is just can be loyal, and that loyalty is a condition of genuine philosophy. But the philosopher Josiah Royce said too, it was the supreme moral good, and that one's devotion to an object mattered more than the merits of the object itself.

Can he be useful or is he only

I hope Congress does subpoena Scotty.

When they ask him what precisely he heard, and who spoke it, that indicated deception leading up to the war, he will say that he never actually heard anything himself but he believes it to be the case.

When they ask him what he heard in that secret Rove/Libby meeting where they settled on their Plame story, he will say that he never actually heard anything himself because he wasn't there but he believes it to be the case.

Face it, as was said here earlier today and then scrubbed off the site, repeatedly, Scotty was co-opted and used by a lefty publisher who consorts will all sorts of lefties.

And now apparently his lefty publisher may have talked him into endorsing Obama too.
Poor Scotty is clearly as pliable as a lump of clay and just as dense.
As for his "incredible courage", it has never ever taken courage to do the bidding of the Liberal media.
He is loved.

David Brock. Loved.

David Horowitz. Not Loved.

Why is HuffPo so afraid of other opinions that it has to delete ones like these?

It is time to face reality and stop the ostrich posturing. It makes me absolutely sick to think that this administration has sacrificed 4000 of our young men and women and tens of thousands of others who are permanently disfigured for a war that was predicated on lies. I guess, if you had lost a loved one you would change that ignorant perspective.Scott McClellan did the right thing albeit a little late. Your administration's only defense is that this has a money grabbing motive or even more ridiculous your belief that the book may have been tweaked by the editors, or as you all like to refer to a left-wing liberal bias, You all make me want to puke. WAKE UP man .... face the reality, this occupation of Iraq is and has been a disaster from the beginning. I could be hard on you guys for Katrina as well, but given who you all are, I really did not expect anything else.
Before you try to sleep tonight, just think for a moment of the lives lost and altered by this insanity. And take your damn head out of the sand.

You know I bet it dawned on Scott when he went to put some gas in the Benz! Hey wait a minute, I am paying 4 bucks for gas too! Away from the comfort and safety of the White House, good old Scott McClellan is just an American citizen just like the rest of us.

But, oh my, in what a dilemma the HuffPo bloggers find themselves. How can they welcome McClellan with open arms on the right side of the page while lambasting him in the op-eds on the left side of the page? Oh well, maybe that's just "fair and balanced" reportage.

See, unlike your rubber stamp republicans, civic individuals can support the admirable actions of a person while not being afraid to level criticism at the deplorable actions. There is something about criticism that you people on the right have issues dealing with.

Scott McClellan, the latest of ex White House employee
to suddenly find a conscious.

To bloggers and talking heads the revelations in his "show me the money
book" is a story line straight from scores of sequels before it.

Anything new here. No! We've heard it all before from one source
or another. All right, what's so sensational about
McCellellans book? Bottom line, he was one of "the guys" that
conned, lied and manipulated the American people for years.

He was one of "the guys" that put this country in the
proverbial crapper for many years to come.Yes, he was part
of that group of power hungry, manipulative and unconscionable
people that has driven this country to its virtual knees.

Now, now he's going to expose those seated in the highest
places of government, why? It's not terribly complicated
as to his reasons. Here are a few of them. CASH! CASH! CASH!
And let us not forget, the best reason of all. Revenge!

Yeah, revenge! They swept poor Scott McClellan out the big
door of national politics. Suddenly he found himself at the
local taco stand, rather than the White House Mess.

McClellan did not reveal anything we did not know.
He merely took a package of deceit and put a fresh
wrapper around it.

Politicians are like kids set loose in a candy store.
You can judge them for what they paid for...and what
they left with.

Too bad he can't official come out for him, or as a democrat. I think that would delegitimize his book. His publishers are geniuses though. Scott took a not-even-in-the-top-10 book to the Amazon bestsellers list.

Yeah, Scotty, that must be a real tough decision, eeny meeny miney mo, who ever shall I choose? Obama or McCain. There IS a bit of difference, Scott.

In this current political twilight zone I realize that three years ago I loathed Scott McClellan and addored Bill Clinton. Now I feel just the opposite.

I had that same feeling when I realized I love John Dean. Having lived through Watergate, and thinking all my life that Nixon was the Prince of Darkness, I could hardly believe it when ole J.D. started making more sense than almost anyone in America.

lol me too! It was strange seeing Scotty McClellan on TV tonight and not having the urge to throw a shoe or something at him.

The world is going delightfully topsy-turvy as the Bush fog dissipates.

Did you write this book yourself or did you have a ghostwriter?

Uh, I uh, uh, uh....

Will you be going on a speaking tour to share your experiences with the public?

Uh, I, uh...

Why didn't you come forward earlier when shedding light on the criminals in the White House might have saved some lives?

Uh, the time wasn't, uh, I uh...

Indeed, have you ever seen a "professional spokesperson" be more inarticulate? His publishers should have prepped him better. Surely these questions he finds so difficult could have been anticipated. It's like he KNOWS Tony Snow is watching ...
