Bob Dole Tells McClellan: You're A "Miserable Creature...Spurred On By Greed"

Bob Dole yesterday sent a scalding email to Scott McClellan, excoriating the former White House spokesman as a "miserable creature" who greedily betrayed his former patron for a fast buck.

In an extraordinary message obtained and authenticated by Politico, Dole uses his trademark biting wit to portray McClellan as a classic Washington opportunist.

"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in a message sent yesterday morning. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."

Michael Marshall, Dole's spokesman and colleague at the Alston Bird law firm, confirms the message came from the former senator and presidential candidate. "Yes, it is authentic," Marshall wrote in an email.

Dole is absolutely correct. McClellan is no hero for FINALLY blowing the whistle when it is to his financial benefit. He and Colin Powell knew what was happening and they turned their back on America and the thousands of Americans who have paid for their silence with their wallets and their lives.

Criminals go to prison for admitting the truth about their actions and so should the White House leaders and staff.

This is the first time I have agreed with Dole in thirty years.

Some years ago I worked in goverrnment on the U.S. island of Saipan. I underwent an awakening.

I remember asking a well-placed person, "Why won't our U.S. Congress do something broadly about the level of corruption among Saipan's governmental officials?"

The answer said volumes.

"Because they have no interest in doing so. Their hands are just as dirty, and if they went after officials on Saipan they'd have to hold themselves to the same standard. So there is this unspoken agreement.­"

Given Dole's reply to McClellen, one can only wonder what sort of mud Dole has been quietly involved in over the years.

A point that I first heard on the Thom Hartmann Show is that these right-wingers will call him everything EXCEPT a liar. This tells me that:

1. He's telling the truth.

No "biting Dole wit" here - just a few facts . . .

Sorry old man - Scott is a WEALTHY man, from a well connected wealthy Texas family of lawyers and politicos (his mom ran for Governor) . . long time big money . . . so "greed" is the LAST idea . . .

He could have gone "Gonzales" or 'Rove" and sucked up to the big hoochie momma RepigliCON firms and been quite com-fee dialing' for lobbyist dollars with HIS OWN Rolodex, or lying for Fox Snooze. Had he been "greedy", we know there is MORE money for failed Bush lackeys - look at Wolfie and Rummy . . .

My advice is have someone read you the book, then change your Depends when you realize just how much damage Bush has done to this nation AND the Republicons . . . .
