Politico:

Bob Dole yesterday sent a scalding email to Scott McClellan, excoriating the former White House spokesman as a "miserable creature" who greedily betrayed his former patron for a fast buck.

In an extraordinary message obtained and authenticated by Politico, Dole uses his trademark biting wit to portray McClellan as a classic Washington opportunist.

"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in a message sent yesterday morning. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."

Michael Marshall, Dole's spokesman and colleague at the Alston Bird law firm, confirms the message came from the former senator and presidential candidate. "Yes, it is authentic," Marshall wrote in an email.

Bush, Cheney and their pals at Halliburton, the oil companies and their ilk raked in, and continue to rake in, astronomical wealth from the misery and death of those hurt by Katrina and in the Iraq war. Hundreds of thousands of lives lost, US and Iraqi, millions had to flee their homes in Iraq and after Katrina with broken promises for aid while the Republicans cheered, and Scott McClellan is the miserable greedy one? Mr. Dole needs to look in a mirror.

All you say is true, but McClellan IS a greedy one. He knowingly helped sell you the lies and you would defend him. Why? I

Well, anyone nicknamed "Nixon's waterboy" and who once suggested to cut the appropriations bill for the Supreme Court unless they give more Dole-friendly opinions has gotta know what a miserable creature really is.

Aw, come on...We all know Dole didn't say this to McClellan in an email....

It's his mantra..."Must repeat this 12 times-a-day, while looking in the mirror !!""

He's so old he just uses Viagra to stand erect. It has nothing to do with his manly hood. Not to mention I have a question for all you guys. Who in their right mind would go on t.v. and cut a commercial stating they have to use viagra to get it on? Oh, yeah, that's my type of guy, I want the one playing the guitar! Please Dole go away, the same way as Ferraro. FAR AWAY!

Actually, I think he ran out of Viagra....that's why he's so damned cranky. Oh, Bob...you should get together with your old friend Bill. You both can rail against the rest of us for the next four years. Maybe he can share some of his Viagra with you too!

Old law: Whenever accusing someone else of lacking guts, such accusation must be made in a gutsy manner, like face to face, not in a cowardly email. At least a phone call.

Yeah Bob, it's a disgusting shame when your lying liar won't stay your liar for life. What's the world coming to?

Well, everything Dole had to say about McClellan may be true, but did I miss him denying anything that McClellan wrote in his book? And on the scale of sins, how does Dole weigh whatever McClellan has done up against the sins against mankind of the Bush Administration?

What makes McClellan a miserable creature is that he failed to speak up when he could have prevented a lot of subsequent harm done to our country. The same is true of Colin Powell and many others.

Whether he is cashing in on it or not is less important.

What Former Senator Dole overlooks in this statements is the fact that if McClellan is telling the truth, George Bush took this country to war on false pretenses for personal reasons. While McClellan's actions may be despicable, George Bush's alleged actions are horrendous.

I guess that fact our country is bankrupt, 4,000 soldiers are dead, and a nation is now in a civil war is not of merit to the issue of someone going against the Republican Party in Dole's opinion. sad.

Bob Dole's comments would have some value if this Republican Administration occupied any moral high ground, but the facts as they have been revealed by a never ending stream of Ex-Bush Administration officials has shown that the Bush Administration has had virtually no moral compass or ethics when running this government. They are morally bankrupt at best. So what is more morally reprehensible; the Bush Administration's betrayal of the American People and the future of America through its cynical policies that did the bidding of corporations like Halliburton and Blackwater and Ken Lay of Enron fame. Or Scott McClellan's "betrayal" of a den of crooks and thieves?

The reality is that America will not be able to move past the partisan bickering that is destroying the United States until all of the Bush Administration Officials come clean and admit the nefarious activities that have taken place during the Bush Administration.

America needs to rebuild its credibility both domestically and internationally from the ground up. Like South Africa after Apartheid , there needs to be a period of "truth and reconciliation".

It is my hope that Obama will be the man to rebuild America's integrity and self confidence and belief in itself.

Since when is GREED a bad thing to the conservatives/Republicans??? I thought their mottoes were "Greed is Good" & "By the corporation, for the corporation". Oh, I forgot one..."Screw the poor and appease the middle class".

What does it matter what motivated McClellan to tell the truth.
The point is that the truth had to be told.
We have to continue to demand the truth and hold our politicians accountable.
They answer to us unless we stand here in silence.

If the White House hadn't thrown McClellan under the bus in 2006, he may have tempered his remarks. Notice how no one is complaining that McClellan is not telling the truth! Jeez, I guess it's ok to witness lying behavior in the White House and not do anything about it - when does loyalty to the boss trump loyalty to the country?

Bob Dole, like so many other rightwing shills, is the truly miserable creature who has sold out our country as an apologist for the worst administration in our history. Where was this old crock when Bush and co. where sh*tting on our constitution, ruining our reputation and killing our troops with their blatant mismangement and lack of provisions, like decent armor, for them. Bob Dole, SHAME ON YOU FOR SELLING OUT TO PARTY OVER COUNTRY and just go shut your piehole now!

Who cares what Bob Dole thinks? The man hasn't been relevant for years, and he hasn't been on the right side of the issues ever. Why are we or Scott McClellan even bothering to recognize him?
