Bob Dole Tells McClellan: You're A "Miserable Creature...Spurred On By Greed"

Bob Dole yesterday sent a scalding email to Scott McClellan, excoriating the former White House spokesman as a "miserable creature" who greedily betrayed his former patron for a fast buck.

In an extraordinary message obtained and authenticated by Politico, Dole uses his trademark biting wit to portray McClellan as a classic Washington opportunist.

"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in a message sent yesterday morning. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."

Michael Marshall, Dole's spokesman and colleague at the Alston Bird law firm, confirms the message came from the former senator and presidential candidate. "Yes, it is authentic," Marshall wrote in an email.

Dole...Dole.... I remember, he used to be somebody. I'm sure everyone was anxiously awaiting his opinion. He had to come in from the pasture to give it. Watch where you step around him. It all Depends.

As a lifelong Kansan it makes me especially proud to say I NEVER cast a vote for Bob Dole, who I have always seen as a man who had the capacity to do evil things just to stay on his life time of being on the public dole. Every campaign speech always ended with us enduring his choked up recount of his time in recovery from his war wounds, which I felt was such an emotional blackmail. In the closest reelection race he ever won, what he did to besmirch the good name of U. S. Representative Dr. Bill Roy with last minute mailings and church handouts accusing the good doctor who had been head of obstetrics for St Francis Catholic Hospital of performing abortions was the last straw of any sense of humanity when running for office. Winning at all costs and maintaining the republican party which brought him from a relatively moderate income background to a very rich man while dumping his first wife in a less than honorable way was his way and he is a rather wealthy man for someone who never didi not work for the government. One of only a few good things I can say about the man is that he has good sense of humor ... when it is not too acerbic. He is too damn loyal to the Republican Party rather than the United States as a whole.

I stated before that I agree with every single word in Bob Doles email.
He is 100% correct in his assessment of McClellan.
This guy is a weasel who enjoyed the perks of Bush Criminality, now when he is in no position to make a
difference he want to put this information out there? Scotty is clearly a self serving wankster, and until I see him in a court room testifying against the criminal activity he witnessed,
He gets no credit from me at all. He's in it for the money and nothing else.

Like many others, McClellan is a man who loves position and perks more than Honoring the constitution
or the People that is represents.

I remember Dole's temper being a factor in his losing various elections, especially as he grew older. Judging from this tirade, he blames McClellan for not speaking out when he should have. Agreed on that point, but it only shows that Dole has been following this whole ordeal just like everyone else. Where was HIS outrage at the things that "might" have happened? Why didn't he come out and bitch to the talking heads when he saw what Bush was doing? Party loyalty? Give me a break!

Going by his own words, Bob Dole seems to believe some of McClellan's story, but even as a WWII veteran he's more pissed off at McClellan's betrayal of the GOP machine than the continuing loss of life witnessed since Bush and Cheney embarked on their mad crusade.

If Dole had been serving under his old rival's son, he would have toed the line just like everyone else in the administration. His silence in retirement makes him as much of a stooge as McClellan was.
