Los Angeles Times:

The Los Angeles Times reports on McCain's "YouTube gap":

The video lasts just more than three minutes. But that's long enough to raise some nasty doubts about John McCain's reputation as a straight talker.

There's the Arizona senator arguing both sides of President Bush's tax cuts. Here's the supposed foreign policy wizard flubbing the simple facts about which terrorists are being trained in Iran. He's even ducking his own admission that he needs to learn more about economics.

The newsreel of McCain lowlights has zoomed up the YouTube charts in the last week, with more than 1.5 million views. "John McCain's YouTube Problem Just Became a Nightmare" is the video's title, which might be dismissed as partisan hype but for one thing: It's true.

The presumed Republican presidential nominee is taking a serious drubbing on YouTube, the most popular video-sharing service on the Internet and the virtual town square for millions of new young voters. ...

Six of the top 10 videos returned by a "John McCain" YouTube search Thursday pegged the 71-year-old as inconsistent, extreme, wooden or a combination of the three. (The one clearly favorable piece came from the McCain campaign and focused on his Navy service.)

Here's the video from BraveNewFilms that's "raising nasty doubts" about McCain:

This was NEVER news. McCain was and always has been a jellyfish.
And just because he is a surviving POW *sight*. Everybody has given him a pass.
I hate to be an a hole. But being a POW doesn't necessarily make you smart or give you leadership ability. If I hear one more person frame an argument or statement about him by "respecting his service and 'being a war her' " I am going to puke. Who gives a shit at this point. I certainly don't. As do most people looking towards the future.

p.s. if this makes the board I will be shocked. Talking smack about soldiers is beyond politically incorrect. Even for the Huffpost. Even if it's true.

McCain sold his soul to devil to try and gain the White House. Had he just stuck to his moderate-Republican and progressive ways of the McCain many of us liked years ago, he would be a shoe-in to the Presidency. But instead, he's some hideously self-proclaimed right-winger who is now just as scary as the guys (clowns) in office now.

That might be true if we were only talking abou the general election. The problem for McCain is that he had to pander to the right to get past the Republican primary.

Every talks about how Obama has to be careful not to get Swift Boated. I think McCain is in the process of getting You Tubed.

Well, the far-right destroyed him during the run-up to the 2000 election. There may be a lesson in here somewhere for the Democrats.

When was theREAL McCain a moderate Republican? Check his record and read "A Free Ride." The image of McCain as a moderate or the much abused term "maverick" was created by the press which failed to scrutinize his record and call to account his many self-contradictions.

Study: Coverage of Clinton, Obama "Almost Identical"
Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism, Harvard's Joan Shorenstein Center on Press, Politics and Public Policy Examine Campaign Coverage
By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 5/29/2008 12:00:00 PM
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) did not get tougher press coverage than Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) when it came to the main themes about their character, history, leadership qualities and overall appeal

In fact, it was just the opposite starting after Clinton criticized the media for being too soft on Obama.
That's according to a new study from the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism and Harvard's Joan Shorenstein Center on Press, Politics and Public Policy.
In fact, according to the study, for the first two months of the year, starting just before the Iowa caucuses, the tone of coverage for both was "almost identical," with both getting about twice as many positives in those categories as negatives.
The tougher coverage, the study said, came at Obama's expense as "the narrative about him began to turn more skeptical and indeed became more negative than the coverage of Clinton herself."

Politicians in general (not just McCain) still do not understand what's happening on the internet. It's not politics as usual when ordinary people can put together a devastating video and publish it world wide.

The internet has come into its own at a time when things seem their darkest. The internet is our last, best hope to save our battered republic and put our country and our planet back on the right track.

even the Clintons ran like they were completely oblivious of the Internet and the fact that any American can spend 5 minutes on YouTube or Google and see video evidence of lies, misstatements, discrepancies ...

it's like they haven't figured out the America has walked away from the Propaganda Machine in the Living Room

Yes, because the most important thing in the world is that we fight endless wars to keep Israel safe. (Of course Israel, who is perfectly capable of defending itself wil not help us in any way).

McCain admits his need to be educated in economics and then teams up with Phil Gramm as his campaign co-chair and economic adviser.

McCain comes out against the religious right in 2000 as agents of intolerance and then cozies up to John Hagee and Ron Parsley.

I think you make any number of You Tube clips like the one above each with unique examples of McCain changing his tune to suit the circumstances.

Use search terms "McCain flip flop" at youtube. 197 vids of McCain debating McCain.

Obama needs to say, "I'll be glad to debate the winner of the McCain/McCain debates. Just let me know when John has quit arguing with himself so I'll know which John McCain I'm debating.

LOL, Kache, I was just going to post that McCain could have a debate all by himself. He's alternated between both sides of nearly every issue.

I think this video is simple, straightforward, effective, and most of all, undeniably TRUE.

There's no way to spin it when it's presented like this.

Yeal, you can have two pictures of McCain. You can call one good McCain and the other bad McCain. You can have a voter saying "I don't know who to vote for. I like good McCain.".

I think the big problem here is that McCain has shown himself to be just as arrogant as Bush, and just as dismissive of the truth.

McCain has an infamous temper. Does anyone expect that he is going to pick people who will give him honest advice? No...he will pick "Yes Men," who will nod and not disagree. Even if he is elected, his presidency is doomed before it even starts, because of his own personality. The man cannot tolerate criticism. He makes everything personal. He acts as if another person with different experiences cannot disagree in good faith with him; he's right, everyone else is wrong.

What Republicans should worry about is not what he will do, but that he is such a wild-card, NO ONE knows what he will do.

Could be that they realized that even a dumbed-down American knew that saving $64 on gasoline wasn't going to change much.

What's sad is that youtube wasn't around in Regan's day. Regan not only argued with himself, hev was downright insulting about it.

Except put it against those rabid Clinton supporters who say they'll vote for McCain rather than Obama, and it's not so funny.

The thing that scares me about McCain is this. You know how sometimes you get a song stuck in your head all day and you can’t get it out. Well, I’m afraid that the song McCain may have stuck in his head is “bomb, bomb, bomb, …. Bomb, bomb Iran”.
