Los Angeles Times:

The Los Angeles Times reports on McCain's "YouTube gap":

The video lasts just more than three minutes. But that's long enough to raise some nasty doubts about John McCain's reputation as a straight talker.

There's the Arizona senator arguing both sides of President Bush's tax cuts. Here's the supposed foreign policy wizard flubbing the simple facts about which terrorists are being trained in Iran. He's even ducking his own admission that he needs to learn more about economics.

The newsreel of McCain lowlights has zoomed up the YouTube charts in the last week, with more than 1.5 million views. "John McCain's YouTube Problem Just Became a Nightmare" is the video's title, which might be dismissed as partisan hype but for one thing: It's true.

The presumed Republican presidential nominee is taking a serious drubbing on YouTube, the most popular video-sharing service on the Internet and the virtual town square for millions of new young voters. ...

Six of the top 10 videos returned by a "John McCain" YouTube search Thursday pegged the 71-year-old as inconsistent, extreme, wooden or a combination of the three. (The one clearly favorable piece came from the McCain campaign and focused on his Navy service.)

Here's the video from BraveNewFilms that's "raising nasty doubts" about McCain:

JOHN McBUSH lost the election when he crawled into bed with Bush. The John McCain of 2000 could have won this November. Unfortunately, he let the current John McCain kill him. All that's left is a pandering old fool who can't see the facts in front of his nose. Is there one principle the old McCain had that he hasn't cheerfully thrown away? Tax cuts for the wealthy? Check. Embracing the very people he called "agents of intolerance"...Robertson, Hagee and his ilk? Check. Caving into Bush on TORTURE! for crying out loud? Check. I could go on, but his actions speak for themselves.

I say all this as an Arizona Democrat who twice voted for him in the past, not because I agreed with all his positions but because I thought he had integrity. And I think he did, once. He *chose* to throw it away. What kind of a leader would this sad, patheteic flip flopper be?

Thanks Mary. I'm an independent that has voted republican more than Democrat from New York, so I know exactly what you speak of. I was really impressed with McCain before thesecurrent issues. NOw I'm inclined to believe he's suffering from dementia from teh way he speaks. He's the ultimate flip-flopper and makes Kerry look like saint.

I voted Republican too, in 00 and McCain would have probably given Obama a run for his money if he ran away from Bush consistently .The way I see it, if Hagel ran for President, he would have a better chance to beat Obama than McCain because of his opposition to the war.

What a fool! As for you Arizonans, the only thing that keeps McCain in office are the old people in Sun City, that will vote for him despite the inconsistencies, and lies he promulgates. Old people, with some exceptions are foolishly enslaved to the old way of politics, they don't use the Internet as much, and they believe anything the guy says. Sad but true. However, I hope the people in AZ led by the younger voters, vote for a strong Dem senator when McCain's term is up, I mean you voted for a Dem Governor and that seems to have gone quite well...

"The John McCain of 2000 could have won this November."

He could have won if he had gotten the Republican nomination. But given the current state of the Republican party, the John McCain of 2000 would not have gotten the nomination, any more than he did in 2000.

The things he had to do to appeal to the wignuts on the right to get the nomination will keep him from winning the election.

BREAKING News….. Just In….

Former BUSH DONORS Now Giving To Obama!!

Just stunning. Not just giving money, volunteering too!! The Republicans have killed their party.

WASHINGTON — Beverly Fanning is among the campaign donors who'll be joining President Bush at a gala at Washington's Ford's Theater Sunday night, but she says that won't dissuade her from her current passion: volunteering for Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

She isn't the only convert. A McClatchy computer analysis, incomplete due to the difficulty matching data from various campaign finance reports, found that hundreds of people who gave at least $200 to Bush's 2004 campaign have donated to Obama.

(snip)

Many of the donors are likely "moderate Republicans or independents who are dissatisfied with the direction of the country now and are looking for change," said Anthony Corrado, a government professor at Colby College in Maine who specializes in campaign finance.

"There is a large block of Republicans, particularly economic conservatives, who just feel that the Republican Party in Washington completely let them down" by failing to control spending and address other problems, Corrado said. "The Republicans have really given these donors no reason to give."

This is all well and good. But the vast majority of people who watch these videos committed to Obama long ago. We won this battle early on - time to move on to other battles.

McCain is proving to be not so honest. I believe he has blinders as to what is going on in America, right here at home. I agree he know war, but does he know how to get us out of one, or just into one?
I think his age and memory are going to be a problem, but more than that, theres the issue of gay rights & abortion. The young America will not vote for him.

I am 56yrs old, from California, (white) who is an Obama fan.

What other prejudices does McCain have that he refers to the Korean as gooks. Understandably there
would be resentment towards those he was in the war with, but not the entire race.

True that; and the think with Obama pastor issues is they keep it in the church and have very little power beyond that except somehow they end up on vids; how is it Hagee / parsley nutters are getting a video get outta jail free card; insult two of the largest groups of people in America Jews and Catholics and no problem.

Corporate MSM hasn't been covering this mainly due to the fact that McCain has alot of lobbyists for these MSM outlets in his pocket. Glad for sights like youtube to get the truth about McCain out!

Too bad for McCain once the head to head debates starts!

Can anybody expect McCain to know anything about YouTube?? He was born before television existed and tells stories about where he was when Pearl Harbor was bombed (he was old enough to remember). He's lucky he even knows who he is, let alone know about things like YouTube.

This election rests on the shoulders of the youth that will have to live in this world long after the 60+ crowd is gone. Most of the 60+ crowd, especially in rural america will never see this video and go to the polls believing McCain is a maverick. They won't have to suffer the consequences of their vote. It is up to the youth to get this video to as many parents as possible and grandparents. Tell them to vote for your future instead of their own. The world is depending on each and every one of you, it's yours, take it.

Hey! Not all of us 60+ people have gone senile. I'm 68 and know McCain is a double talker. I bought my first microcomputer in 1984 and have been computer savy since then.

eight more years of bush politics will surely bring socialism to america or if not soicalism maybe we will finally discover and hopfully realize we have to regulate capitalism.

unchecked capitalism has bankrupted this country now we print and borrow money to keep the gov going.

the dollar = .63 euro enough said if that does not alarm you nothing will.

watch the corp media convince americans the devalued dollar is good for them.

the sad part most americans will believe them.

they believed reagan's trickle down theory.

What McCain is lacking is the most basic ability that truly gifted politicians have when they get slammed with something they said, which is to take a deep breath and say, "well, if that is the way it came out, then I misspoke. What I REALLY meant to say was, blah, blah, blah.

Instead, he knee-jerk reacts every time by denying he said it in the first place. It makes him look like an idiot. Maybe he really doesn't remember saying things. If so, that's scary.

I am 51, but blessed to have friends who are in their early 20's....a big crew of them. They are all Obama supporters. I got them to our town's voter registration, and I will be taking them to the polls. It's not that they don't want Obama elected....they do! But they also need to be lead into the process.

I have an Obama button on my purse and a baseball hat in the back window of my car. Young people ask me about this election. I think everyone who comes in contact with a young person should simply ask them if they are registered to vote. If they aren't, show them how. Then you have your list to call in the week before the election, and you have a group to get to the polls. I sadly did not start to vote consistently until I was in my late 20's. It wasn't that I wasn't interested, I just didn't understand the process.

Heck, buy some Obama baseball hats and pass them out. It's a donation to the campaign, and the young voters love to wear them, and it really helps people become invested in this election. If they wear the hat, they have to explain to others their commitment, and young people are so smart...they can do it and share their feelings with their friends.

Excellent excellent ideas! Where do we get those hats? I make a point of contributing to Obama's campaign often and I'm willing to go further to get the word out. It's the least I can do my future right now. If McCain gets elected, I'll be honest here, I'm taking a nice long move to Costa Rica. I can't afford to see the dollar plunge any lower while the cost of living keeps going up.

Now as for McCain, he's got another thing coming if he thinks he can flip flop at this day and age of youtube... Good thing Dems are not taking any crap this year. Just this morning Kerry caming out swinging on the McCain surge gaffe. Note that's the last dem that lost to Bush b/c he didn't react fast enough to the swift boating vets.
