Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith have won critical acclaim for pumping nearly $1 million of their own money into a new private school that will offer organic meals, laptops for every student and an environment of learning based on "equity" and "respect" to create "citizens of the world."

Here's what the parents of the school's pupils aren't being told:

The New Village Academy plans to use some teaching methods developed within the Church of Scientology and has hired a team of Scientologists to put them into action.

Pinkett-Smith, who currently home-schools the couple's two children, has long been talking about opening up a school where Jaden, 9, and Willow, 7, can continue to receive an education in line with their beliefs, friends told FOXNews.com.

So she and her actor husband are bankrolling the pre-kindergarten through sixth grade school in Calabasas, Calif., and they have selected a group of Scientologists, including the Director of Learning, Director of Qualifications and Artistic Director, to create that atmosphere.

Cults like scientology are dangerous to Freedom. All superstition is dangerous.
Hubbard wrote a short story about a guy who makes a lot of money and becomes poerful by inventing anew religion.
Scientology hates Psychology because scientology is nothing but renaming some of the concepts of psychology.
Any religion that charges money is a scam. Scientology is as dangerous to Freedom and the USA as christian extremists. Scientology is worse because it pretends it isn't a religion and charges large amounts of money for nothing.
I will make sure I never give any money to anything Will Smith is involved with.

No more Cruise or Will Smith movies for me. I say if they want to gay or bi-sexual, more power to them, but cultist morons I don't abide by. These Scientologists are a menace.

What a disappointment you are, Will Smith !!

Why not donate this money to the very poorest schools, starting in New Orleans???
Have you even visited N.O. since Katrina?

I have no affinity for any organized religion. But I must say, the Catholic Church is the largest land-owner on the planet and have hundreds of thousands of schools teaching their particular brand of thinking. There's Jewish schools and Muslim Schools so WHO CARES if the Scientologists have a school? But speaking of the Catholic Cult, I mean church - have the Scientologists been complicit in a Holocaust? Raped thousands of children under their own spiritual guidance, no?

Please save the holier than thou vitriol about this religion. Why are they so different than any other, because your favorite movie stars are members? Who do you think has more money? Catholics or Scientologists? Every Sunday they pass around a hat in every single church raising money from the rank and file. People tith 10% of everything they earn to their pastors.

Quit being hypocrites. Until the Scientologists behave criminally, respect their right to organize and practice whatever religion they want. This is America isn't it?

Just say no, people. Just say no. And don't hate just for hating.

I agree. The disproportionate amount of hate directed at Scientology is unwarranted. It has not proven to be any more sinister than Christianity or Judaism. Scientology-bashing is a fad, and those practicing it are sheep.

Right on!! Good to see courage like that in the face of all the anti-scientology bigotry.

Yeah, I'm sure David Koresh and Jim Jones would appreciate your sentiments.

So then what is the right religion to follow then cause it seem you know all the answers.

Too much hate for this world not to have peace.

Scientology has one novelty going for it.

It exploits the very rich and extremely gulible, as opposed to many other religions, who exploit the very poor and gullible.

Religion is not bad per se, but Scientology is no religion. It is a cult.

Will Smith is a tool of Tom Cruise and Scientology.

Are there any poor or just middle class people in this church? Or are they all multimillionaires?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:49 AM on 05/31/2008

Unfortunately there are a lot of middleclass members. I don't know how the poor could afford it. I know a local sad sack who spends large amounts of his small income taking their classes. My brother got involved with them for about a month and I got to read a bunch of their publications. They are all about taking your money. You could easily spend 20K a year on their courses. The publications feature a lot of L. Ron Hubbard's writings and they're terrible. Only an uneducated person would find them profound. In all the pictures I see of Hubbard he's overweight with a little flab around the waist. I want to ask Scientologist's, "If Hubbard's so enlightened, how come he can't even control his own weight?"

well since the church charges people to "advance" through the levels, it helps if you have money

The poor people in this cult are treated as slaves for the rest of them.

Scientology is as valid as the movies they make. How can man be that stupid?

A funny thing happens, after they get into this cult thier movies go south too.
I can't name one star that scientology has helped. They all lose thier fans.

What evidence do you have that their lives are screwed up? Saying "Scientology!" doesn't count.

Also, they make horrible films. Eyes Wide Shut and Magnolia are the only decent things Cruise has ever done, and Smith has yet to make one film that even rises to the level of mediocrity.

so true, I have to get the Tom Cruise hype, he has made a ton of shitty movies. Top gun is a silly piece of cold war propadanda and that nascar movie has to be near the top of the all time worst list.

Saw a snippet of his interview on Ellen. SInce being influenced by Scientology, he has become much less real. He's disconcertingly turning into a robotic version of Cruise. Same fake heartiness.

It's amazing. You speak like you know the man. You saw a "snippet" of an interview on a tabloid TV interview show. Respectfully, how the HELL can you make a judgement like this. "Less real". Have you EVER met the man. If not, please, please just zip it.
