Old friends and longtime aides are wringing their hands over Bill Clinton's post-White House escapades, from the dubious (and secretive) business associations to the media blowups that have bruised his wife's campaign, to the private-jetting around with a skirt-chasing, scandal-tinged posse. Some point to Clinton's medical traumas; others blame sheer selfishness, and the absence of anyone who can say "no." Exploring Clintonworld, the author asks if the former president will be consumed by his own worst self.

Bill Clinton was a good President, quite possibly the best President since Nixon. I wish he had behaved somewhat differently in the recent campaign for Hillary.

That's all I care about. What he does in his private life is his business.

I read it ... great article and thanks Bill because I would have never known about it without your memo!

Thank you Bill for being the leader of the American people all these years in whatever significant way you are able - beyond the call of duty in many cases. You have put your own reputation and legacy on the line for your wife's candidancy. You are truly a great man because of it. Some of us Americans know that you are the real thing.

In my opinion - the elites have taken the Democratic Party away. They still will not take any responsibility and ask for my vote in an honest way. They have ran a smear campaign against you and Hillary. Yet they do not know what winning is. I think winning is winning over the hearts and minds of people when you are running for leadership. The Obama people have not done that and yet, as during this entire campaign of censorship and propaganda, they insist and bully Hillary to drop her fight for me and my concerns.

The last day, another smear article appears about you Bill. I am truly sorry that the media has succumbed to this kind of smear journalism and groveled to Obama as the new leader. You and your wife are still the leaders of the moderate Democrats, the working white Democrats, the women and the seniors.

I will appeal to you. Please lead us in the direction that you are but do not grovel to Obama. He is a false prophet and a dangerous preacher man.

I'm not that interested in Bill at this point in time to read 8 pages about him.

Yawn.

Very well written & researched article. It answered so many questions & filled in so many gaps.

I can only hope Bill isn't invited to campaign for Obama - so much damage, so little time.

What is Todd's motivation? Bill has a few friends he or some others do not approve of? So what?

Bill gets angry more often than before? Isn't that a rite of passage, you're allowed to get angry, say whatever you want when you reach a certain age? At least that's what my grandmother told me.

Todd's article was a waste of time.

Read it again, this time without the blinders.

The real Bill Clinton is exposed. I think the article is too generous. There is nothing there to respect. How can the world admire a man who is only out for himself? He cannot be mentioned in the same breath with the Ghandis and Mandelas of the world. Bubba will not be missed when he is gone.

It's all speculation. Truly a nice attempt at smearing one of the greatest presidents of our time.

So whose behind this "tawdry" article? Is it the "right wing conspiracy" or the "left wing conspiracy"? LMAO!

bill is an 'old' 61, he's wearing down in more ways than one. i predict hillary dumps his ass, and he winds up a mean, lonely old man, inspite of his wealth. he has no true friends,,,,,,,,gee i wonder why, and one day his encourtage of secret service agents, etc. will be gone, and as his health begins to fail him, as it will, he will be a lonely old man.

Presidents have secret service protection until they die.

To go from trailer park to superwealth you have to make ethical compromises. No one really cares if he is sleeping with Eleanor Mondale (who would want to be married to Hillary Clinton, after all) but people do care if you take money from Ukrainian dictators, Saudi princes and big money sleazeballs like Ron Burkle and Marc Rich.
