Not one for arriving on time to visit her husband in prison, Amy Winehouse today spent more than an hour in court supporting her husband who faces charges of assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

The troubled star sat in the front row of the public gallery as Snaresbrook Crown Court, east London, and smiled lovingly at Blake Fielder-Civil, who smiled back at her from the dock.

Winehouse wore a short blue spotted dress in a clear effort to look smart for her husband's trial, but the classy clothes failed to hide her alarmingly bad skin.

The singer's ragged appearance shocked onlookers as she arrived at court.

Ms. Winehouse may regret making her personal demons part of public conjecture, debate and scrutiny. But, HuffPo is not guilty of "kicking some young person when they are down." Ms. Winehouse opened the door by making her drug habit part of her art.

Ms. Winehouse started this conversation and these are not the most shocking or embarrassing photos recently taken of Winehouse.

Even if her skin is all busted up, what's alarming is that her whole face looks like she's 48, not 24. It's amazing how drugs and cigarettes can so negatively affect the exterior of one's body even at a young age.

As I stated earlier though it is sad, it's Darwinism at work. Just like smoking, you have to want to quit. If she refuses to go to rehab and/or doesnt stop this self destructive behavour on her own then she will reap what she sows. I personally have dabbled with meth/cocaine in my younger years which is something I'm not proud of, but never let it get hold of me thank goodness. But once again she has to want to quit!

I'm afraid your simplistic theory isn't very realistic. We're only just beginning to understand the brain and how it works - some people can't just overcome addiction by willpower alone.

Would you tell someone who is suicidal and about to kill themselves "I used to be sad once and I got over it! Why can't you do that? You have to want to live! Just think positively!"

You wouldn't tell them that. You would try to get them help and medication. Some people can try coke or heroin and never be addicted. Some people get addicted immediately. The difference isn't willpower - the difference is in their brains and their genes and if they have a family history of addiction.

I would like to see her get help and medication too! But the point is she has to want to do it as well. The world can tell her that she needs rehab and even try to force her to go, but unless she wants it and is commited to follow through it is pointless. Robert Downey Jr is a good example. How many times was he forced into rehab by the courts with no success. At some point finally he decided he wanted to quit and thankfully did.

This is a teaching tool, and a good counter to the "Rehab" song. Ms. Winehouse was a champion of foul living. Her poor health is an excellent example of where defiance to good living leads.

It should be obvious to everyone that those images have been run through PhotoShop to increase the contrast and to make any rough edges stand out more, as well as shifting the skin tones.

Winehouse's face might be scary, but this is not how she would look if you only used your "eyes" to see her. Cheap tabloid sensationalism.
