LOS ANGELES — A spokesman for Kelsey Grammer says the "Frasier" star is recovering in a Hawaii hospital after a mild heart attack this weekend. Stan Rosenfield says Grammer is "resting comfortably" in an undisclosed hospital after being stricken Saturday. Rosenfield says the 53-year-old actor will be released early this week.

Rosenfield says Grammer _ the star of "Cheers," "Frasier" and the recently canceled Fox sitcom "Back to You" _ was paddle-boarding with his wife, Camille, when he experienced symptoms.

The couple lives in Kona, on Hawaii's big island.

Rosenfield says Grammer was immediately taken to an area hospital where it was determined that he had suffered a "mild heart attack." The spokesman says he is unaware of any history of heart trouble for Grammer.

I'm not a fan of Grammer's politics, but I've always enjoyed "Frasier" and liked his character in "Down Periscope". I wish him a speedy recovery and offer this caution: your life is about to change, and if it doesn't there will be dire consequences.

I had my first heart attack at age 55. Within hours of my hospitalization I was given two options, surgery or death. I opted for what turned out to be a quadruple by-pass procedure where I ended up going into cardiac arrest twice during the procedure. I am now 60 and suffer CHF and can no longer work. Life can be hard when you have no stamina and are constantly fatigued. So, Mr. Grammer, my advice is to drastically change your life style; abandon alcohol and drugs, tobacco and stress and enjoy life while you can. Heart disease kills a lot of people. If only I knew at 40 or even 50 what I know now, my life would be very different.

Get well soon!

He already dropped the alcohol and drugs. I don't know about the tobacco. Since he was out paddle boarding off his coastal home on the Big Island when he had his heart attack, I think he's also taking care of the stress bit!

he has health care via SAG.

He also has buckets of money. I'm sure he leaves the SAG coverage for the people who don't.

Way to politicize it! You know, I'm normally against federal funding for abortions, but in your mother's case, I would have provided her the coat hanger myself.

Man, how bizarre. I'm not joking- I had an 95% blockage in my right artery leading to my bottom chamber of my heart- what the docs called the widow maker. I was more than lucky to have caught this before any heart attack/damage. A stent with balloon surgery cured this in under two hours last Friday.
I'm about Kelsey's age within a year. The other crazy part is two of my friends had heart issues in the last month.
Changing ones ways may not be easy, but getting a second chance at life sure wakes one up.
Speedy recovery to Kelsey.

I still watch reruns of Frasier every weeknight, and laugh as I did the first time I saw them. He's one of the funniest actors ever to hit television. I hope he recovers quickly, and takes good care of himself. I'd like to see him back in another movie or two, and another sitcom.

Get better. Stay strong. And Take it Easy.

You got clean and sober Kelsey and you have a daughter and a wife who need you. Get better and follow whatever diet and exercise program the docs will want you to be on. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
