Karl Rove Fox News

ThinkProgress noted today that Fox News has finally identified Karl Rove as an informal adviser to the McCain Campaign, almost four months after hiring him as an on-air political analyst.

Rove first appeared on Fox as an "FNC political contributor" on Super Tuesday (February 5), and it took the network 118 days to acknowledge his affiliation with McCain, according to ThinkProgress' "Rove Watch Clock."

The mention slipped out during an interview with Rove on Hannity & Colmes, when Colmes asked him a question about Obama (see video below):

"Look, Karl, I know you're supporting McCain. But how do you know -- and I know you've helped informally advise McCain -- but how do you know that he's a weak general election candidate?"

Last month, Amanda Terkel and Matt Corley remarked in Salon that Rove was regularly introduced on Fox as a "former senior advisor to President Bush," "the architect," a "political wizard" and a "famed political consultant" — but his connection to McCain was never disclosed.

I wonder if Karl Rove is going to tell McCain where his illegitimate black child is.

You are so right. This is what politic does to people.
This guy lied about his family.
Even if he had an illegitimate black child is that a crime? McCain could not even answer for himself.

Karl Rover himself had a gay dad.

I wonder if he's proud of his evil son? I personally would NEVER admit it if I was related to him.

Piglet needs to start preparing for his testimony in the Bob Siegelman case. He has no time for punditry.

McCain will deserve everything miserable thing that happens to him under Karl Rove. Anybody who would listen to that creep must be a creep himself.

Rove helped Bush get into the W.H. for 8 years. I'm sure McCain would love to be as "miserable" as Bush. Here's hoping they both burn in hell, but you can't deny Rove's genius (evil genius).

Yeah, the genius that orchestrated the Republican landslide in 2006. Good point.

The Fox gig may be Rove's last before heading off for the barred rooms. Rove was one of the main leaders of this totally self serving phony Bush administration. Bush,Cheney, Rumsfeld, Libby, Rove, and other central figures in this administration could be seen as the crooks in old westerns who moved into town and became mayor, sheriff, and judge to appear legitimate, while having gunmen to steal land, mining and water rights and not have to worry about being prosecuted. These people are able to con enough people into believing that they are going to do something good and it seems to take forever for people to figure out what they are really up to. In this time, they take over the media, the schools, the courts, get rid of jobs and in effect put people in such poor conditions that they cannot fight against the overwhelming power. They play on people's emotions, promote fear, exploit religious concerns, acting self-righteous and run continuous public relations ads. Bush never really said anything and allowed no one to question him on anything in public. All of his spoken words were decided in meetings and tested for effect before being put out to air. His eight years were the biggest, unbelievable farce that I personally have witnessed. That people could be so totally taken in, is to me, beyond belief.

I'm baffled as to why people think Rove is brilliant. He's just an old political hack/criminal like in old-time (or perhaps new-time) Louisiana. It's not hard to sway elections when they're won by appealing to a small number of voters who don't pay attention. Just sling the mud at the right time and you've got it. That's all his "brilliance" amounts to.

Ain't that the truth. He's a criminal who should be tried for all his crimes and lies. I hope he gets caught, tried, and goes to jail.

A "small number of voters" doesn't win an election.

A small number of voters, say 537 of them, don't win elections. Good point. You really add to the discussion. Thanks.

Rove has an strong intuitive grasp of the emotional lowest-common-denominator for low-information voters. He's not a policy wizard or intellectually impressive, but his message-mastery is extremely useful for those who eschew "reality-based" rhetoric (like the GOP of the last 28 years). Like Grover Norquist, his gifts make him an extraordinary political agent in advancing the interests of the powerful via false populism and fear of "the other".

He is "brilliant", but in a specifically political sense.

I guess Hillary is good enough peddling crap by herself, without any expert help.

McCain has nothing to offer America. He has already taken the big money from the Bush supporters. He is thoroughly in league with lobbyists. He wants to continue the war and support the military industrial complex, make tax cuts for the wealthy permanent, will continue to fuel the abortion fights, hurt public education, focus the country on problems with gay people instead of other pressing issues like jobs and healthcare and he is certainly the one who will try to prevent the prosecution of Bush and Cheney for all of their traitoress crimes. I see no reason for anyone who really wants progress in the country and in the world to support McCain. We could not really afford the last eight years of Bush and most certainly cannot continue this waste with McCain. Anyone who thinks that McCain is anything but more of the same is just deluded. His seeking out of nutcase ministers and rich lobbyists who support other Bush associated rich people adequately portrays McCain's lack of a real useful vision. While he talked of change in his speech, his whole speech has the character of the right wing soundbites for the past 20 years. We should know by now, it is empty rhetoric.

Carl Roves only goal is to place enough doubt in everyones mind, that somehow Obama isn't kickin' MacSame's butt. That way, when they "fix" the voting machines again, people will believe that the vote was too close to call.

It's designed to keep the masses from picking up pitchforks and torches and re-enacting a scene from Frankensteins castle on election night.

I think the masses *would* pick up pitchforks and torches and storm the castle if they thought the election was fixed!
