This is a misleading story in CNN. These are not the most reliable or trouble free cars over their life;, just for the first 90 days. So what does that really mean? Perhaps extra care to double check each car upon shipment. But overall performance and true reliability of a car depends not only how carefully they are built, but how well they are designed to work for the long haul. It's just another example of how to lie with statistics.

"Three-fourths of brands scored better in 2008 than in last year's study. 86% of that gain was due to defect reduction."

In other words... if you bought a car last year... you had a chance of 75%*86%=64.5% to buy a lemon.
