***UPDATE***
The Clinton campaign issued a statement at around 9pm saying they will be hosting an event to announce her support for Sen. Obama on Saturday, as opposed to Friday:

Senator Clinton will be hosting an event in Washington, DC to thank her supporters and express her support for Senator Obama and party unity. This event will be held on Saturday to accommodate more of Senator Clinton's supporters who want to attend.

Multiple news organizations reported early Wednesday evening that Hillary Clinton is expected to officially suspend her campaign and drop out of the Democratic race on Friday.

The Times has more details on the ending of her campaign:

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is moving to suspend her campaign and endorse Senator Barack Obama on Friday after Democratic members of Congress urged her on Wednesday to leave the race and allow the party to unite around Mr. Obama, according to a senior adviser to Mrs. Clinton.

Mrs. Clinton is likely to make the announcement in New York City, an aide said, although no final venue has been chosen.

Her decision came after a day of telephone conversations with supporters on Capital Hill about what she should do now that Mr. Obama has claimed enough delegates to secure the nomination. Mrs. Clinton had initially said she wanted to wait before making any decision, but her aides said that in conversations, some of her closest supporters said it was urgent that she step aside.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the word from the Obama camp is that a joint ticket is unlikely:

Close supporters suggested she would like to be his running mate, on a unity ticket.

But close advisers to Sen. Obama signaled an Obama-Clinton ticket was highly unlikely. People in both camps cited what several called "a deal-breaker" -- Bill Clinton may balk at releasing records of his business dealings and big donors to his presidential library.

the women that support her dont get it.
if a male says something about her then they are sexist.

many women on talk radio get it and see her moves are selfish and lust for power.

I personally would love to see a woman in the white house. there are so many out there better than the hill. she has the clinton name that was her big help.

god knows that we white males have screwed up this country. just look at mc war and those that hang around him. I mean these folks are scary very scary. to think americans continue to put these very selfish people into office is even more scary much more.

no ladies give us a woman that does not try use slime repub tactics to win a primary election.

she proved one thing she proved all the gossip and myths about her to be true. she missed her calling she should have married a repub and then ran as a repub.

those fems that love her would have voted eva braun into office with hitler as vp to put a woman into the white house.

and the hard working uneducated white males that voted for her. one word describes them. racist due to p..... envy.

guarantee you if it had been a white guy running against her they would have voted for him and shown their sexism.

This would be a good time for Hillary to introduce a sense of the Senate resolution that any agreement reached with Iraq that keeps US troops and contractors in Iraq that is not presented as a treaty to Congress to approve or reject is null and void. After it is passed, it should be publicly sent to the UN and to al-Maliki.

Then Hillary should introduce legislation ending funding for Iraq, including for contractors, except for the safe, immediate withdrawal of all US troops. I realize the Senate voted wrong on the funding, but it shouid pass this condition anyway.

ABSOLUTELY! Brilliant, short and swift and to the point. That is the kind of govt we need NOW.
If Hillary IS a leader type, she will jump at this to show what strength she carries and make a name for herself...a name that would be for something REAL.
She should put her feet up, relaxxxx, throw down a few shots and some beer, in private...take a week off and get ready to go back to the Senate and take them on.
That would be the Hillary we expected when she ran for the Senate.
Then all the Clinton supporters would be made whole, so to speak, could hold their heads up and march on for progress in this country.
That would show she is really with it when it comes to change and reform and will work with Obama's admin.

This is a very interesting discussion, but when will the focus change to John McCain?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:09 PM on 06/05/2008

Exactly, dhibds;

We need to focus on McSame. The longer we keep Clinton in the media, the more McSame will make of it in the GE. The boat has sailed without her and Obama need to take a few days off to regroup, then hit the red road hearing the voters concerns, re-re-assure them that he is looking out for them and not big business then change that red road to blue.

Either they accept him or they don't all he can do is try. Clinton has made it so, her constituents will hate him no matter what he has to say, So, he should try to pull some of those Red States that the Repugs have always shored and see if he could change their minds.

HRC had the chance to look fantastic the other night and she blew it. (Personally, I was so disappointed at her speech.) Again, she's trying to play catch-up and it's so pathetic. Now she'll give this speech on Saturday and everyone will say she ran a great campaign (which she didn't), blah, blah.

But here is what's happening: the train has left the station and Obama is the motorman. Hop on board.

Do you know what makes me saddest? It is a vision of how last Tuesday night could have been a tremendous, national celebration in the streets.
In that alternate world, H.Clinton gracefully, joyufully, congratulated B. Obama as the nominee, there was dancing in the streets. People poured out of their homes and high-fived each other. Instead, we were gut-punched by a delusional Clinton and her followers (who were all trapped in that basement with no idea that Obama had gone over the top).

It has always been about her. She doesn't even have the decency to admit the horrible mistake of supporting an illegal war. She doesn't even have the sensitivity to be aware of having blood on her hands. Why doesn't she seek the VP under McCain? . Holy Joe, John, and Hillary. What a trifecta.

Yes, good point. Hillary cost all of us an opportunity to generate more momentum and more positivity in the run toward November.

Could you imagine the fun the Rupublicans would have if Obama picks Clinton as his VP? They would use Clinton's own personal attacks on Obama. Imagine just playing the video where Clinton said the quote below:

"I think it's imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold. I believe that I've done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you'll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy." -- Hillary Clinton

My name is John McCain and I approve this message.

Given the attacks stated directly by Hillary Clinton (not to mention Bill Clinton), how could Hillary get the VP spot without setting up a devastating series of attacks from the Republicans which simply quote Hillary Clinton? Obama couldn't even defend such an attack without slamming Hillary and if he was his VP pick he would either look stupid for picking her or disloyal for dissing her.

NEWSFLASH

Advance copy of Hillary's concession speech:

Thanks to my supporters and thank you Geraldine Ferraro for that inspiring introduction. Ms. Ferraro, of course, doesn't speak for me when she points out that an African American has no chance in Hell of ever being elected in this country. Those are her words, not mine.

I'd like to thank the 846 million voters who put their faith in a strong, intelligent women during the campaign - more votes than anybody in the history of the universe has ever received. I should point out that Barack Obama received only 192 votes, mostly from states that don't mean anything.

Despite the fact that the DNC is comprised of nothing more than a gang of thieving bastards who stole all my delegates, Barack appears currently, if temporarily, ahead in the count. For this reason I will partially, conditionally and nominally reduce my campaigning for the nomination, under protest and while being really bitter. I will consider all my options which include legal action, or a Million Old Angry 70's Era Women Bra Burning March on the capital mall.

We will support the nominee in every way possible . . .for a price. My current list of demands include: Being on the ticket as either President or Vice President, paying off my 25 million dollar debt, full use of the White House, Air Force One, a 250 member Marine Corps marching band, breakfast at Denny's, a 2009 Mercedes 500S and whatever Bill wants.

See you

As Charlie Rengall said yesterday, by HRC not acknowledging Obama the night he won..... was " rude ." Why can't somebody stand up to her!
It's time for Obama supporter's to put an end to all the Hillary fuss. All we hear on the news is about Hillary's supporter's putting her on the ticket w/Obama. What about Obama supporters! Why must we have this woman thrust upon us now. I thought that Obama "is pulling the strings" now. By all means, he certainly is NOT. Stand up, Barack!

To the "Ms. Christians" out there: I have felt empathy for every candidate as they dropped out of the race this year. I never felt any animosity toward them when they conceded or suspended--even on the Repub. side of the aisle (except I didn't like Mitt Romney's speech). I have always felt for the candidates when they let go. That is what makes us like them again.

But Hillary is different. With the exception of the way Bush treated McCain in the 2000 election, I have not seen anyone be so divisive toward her opponent. Her devotees who have been willing to hold us hostage and ask why we are "so mean to her" should look to her. Why is she getting a bad reaction from us? Because when you act like a spoiled little girl you get treated like a spoiled little girl. It pains me to have to say that the first woman who had a real shot acted like such a parody and stereotype of what the right wing coined, "feminazis."

Hillary isn't going to concede, if you've read her speach she doesn't even acknowledge that Barrack is the presumptive nominee. Hillary is holding on to all of her delegates for one reason: She is taking this to the convention with the hope that there is some bombshell to drop on Barack or Michelle Obama and twist the arm of the super delegates to vote for her. Remember, this is the Clintons we are talking about.

Unity through actions that unity. Stop denigrating a former president and democratic senator. Stop acting like Republicans and say that you are not divisive while you continue to spew all this divisive language toward Clinton and her supporters. What is wrong with you people???? Do not see your candidate kissing up to her. Did you see him today. Follow his lead and starting saying nice things. Or is that not possible as that shows he is just another politican like Clinton. Triangulating???? It works. Watch Obama turn into a triangulating machine.
