Is John McCain trying to be the older, whiter, more conservative Barack Obama?

On Tuesday, the Senator co-opted the slogan that has come to personify Obama's candidacy, taking the Illinois Democrat's "Change You Can Believe In" and altering it into "A Leader You Can Believe In."

The line donned McCain's lime-green backdrop as he addressed supporters in Louisiana. During that speech, moreover, the Arizonan took his Obama-posing a step further, uttering the word "change" more than 30 times. Not that Obama can claim sole ownership of the word or idea, but still...

Now there is this. On Wednesday, the McCain campaign put out a new homepage, featuring his new, Obama-like slogan, and an image that seems uncannily similar to Obama's trademark campaign logo - the red and white stripped valley under what appears to be a blue sun (or in McCain's case, blue sun rays). Take a look.

McCain's seems to be positioning himself so that he is not caught, like Sen Hillary Clinton, simply ceding the mantle of change to Obama. But when the co-opting of images, logos, and slogans is this blatant, it could prove more embarrassing than advantageous.

There's a sticker on McCain's page that shows an elephant with a long trunk that underlines the word McCain. Problem is, to me it looks like an elephant with a Pinocchio problem. And who's that good looking guy in profile in the black and white picture? Vaguely resembles McCain, but it could be John Glenn or someone playing McCain on tv just as easily. I think these guys need help.

SAM:

Guess the Bush/Cheney/McCain brand of republican dog food won"t sell.

This is hilarious - in light of the fact that McCain likes to claim that Obama is not experienced enough to lead this nation the Obama campaign has led McCain and the republicans to plagiarize from the "quite naive and inexperienced young man." Damn this is hilarious. The republicans are so unimaginative, and uninspired by McCain that they can not create an original theme for their nominee.

ROTFL

The republicans are such lemmings they have sunk so low as to steal from the Obama campaign.
What happened to all of that republican superiority and the experience juggernaut that McCain has been touted as having? This is the best that McCain can come up with. LMAO

Just LMAO

Plagiarists! Plagiarists! Plagiarists! Plagiarists! Plagiarists! Plagiarists!
Plagiarists!
ROTF LMAO

I don't know about you guys, but this year, I'm casting my vote for "BaJohn Hussein McBama". I urge everyone, young and old, rich and poor, get behind the movement that's taking over the nation and impacting the world. The "BaJohn Hussein McBama" campaign has made American history during the primaries and will look to make more in the coming fall elections. Fans are screaming, "Maybe, we could" all over the country in support of this year's most appealing candidate. Do your part! Elect "BaJohn Hussein McBama" for president of the United States. Like my father always said, "Be a follower, not a leader".
-Pass it on- "BaJohn Hussein McBama"

The world needed a team captain
Not a bench warmer with splinters
But GOD just wouldn't listen
He told me to "Play Injured"

You folks are right to point out the rampant plagiarism in politics. I particularly enjoyed listening recently to the side by side speeches and plagiarism by Obama as well. It seems he uses precious few of his own words or ideas as well. However, I don't think that it is by any means exclusive to either candidate or party.

McCains ad is nowhere close to Obama's ad.

Check out these further instances of stylistic plagiarism from the McCain website...

Interesting that they all appear on the 'Decision Center' for Independents and Undecideds...evidently McCain needs to try and copy Obama to have a chance with these voters...

As a viewer, I noticed the sign before I saw McClain!! This isn't the first time he has demonstrated his inability to think for himself! He flip flops his position on the important issues almost daily using words and even making promises that the Democractic candidates used during the primary campaign' The press didn't closely cover his "talks"because of the attention given to Obama and Hillary. McClain's honeymoon is now over and the world soon will see "how he thinks on his feet." and the kind of judgment he uses...

He looks like a carny in front of a circus tent, or maybe a used car salesman.

I hope he keeps up this pathetic plagiarism. It exposes his lack of ideas quite nicely.

McCain has no ideas. He's the status quo candidate.
