Michelle Obama To Guest Host "The View"

Michelle guest hosted today, she fist bumped the ladies, talked about Laura Bush and chatted to Matthew Broderick.

NEW YORK - Michelle Obama will be a guest host on "The View" on June 18. The popular ABC daytime talk show had invited her to be a guest this month, but she sent back word that she would like to be a host like Cindy McCain did in April, said Bill Geddie, the show's executive producer.

"Equal time _ that's hard to argue with," he said Wednesday.

Being a guest host will allow Michelle Obama to help interview guests and participate in the opening "hot topics," or banter about what's in the news that day. It offers the chance for someone to show a more complete personality than just sitting for an interview and talking about themselves, Geddie said.

Michelle Obama was injected into the campaign when the Tennessee Republican Party posted an online video questioning her patriotism. That prompted her husband, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, to say political opponents should lay off his wife.

When Cindy McCain was guest host in April, comic Craig Ferguson was the lead guest. No guests have been booked for Michelle Obama's show yet.

Barack Obama has appeared twice on "The View," once before his candidacy for president. Republican John McCain has been on several times. Geddie said he expected the candidates to seek out a chance to reach "The View" audience during the campaign and be questioned about what is going on.

"We treat the wives differently than the candidates," Geddie said. "We're tougher on the candidates than we are on the wives. We're trying to get to know them."

I think Michelle Obama is awesome, she is an incredibly strong woman with a real love of this country but is also a realist. lf waving a little made in China flag is what makes you great, if you can't question where we are, what we find lacking in this country then we are all doomed. I am just as excited to have Michelle in the White House as I am about Barack. We need real people with real questions and a true desire to find solutions, not grab that little made in China flag. I would LOVE to be in that audience!! The audience members are so fortunate! I have already marked my calendar to tape it. It's so great seeing Michelle and Barack t when they are together . They are obviously a loving couple with great respect for one another. The reason that she will catch so much flack during the campaign is because of her intelligence ( I think)....NOT because of any silly comments made in the heat of battle. But I guess what's important to remember is that he will be the president....NOT Michelle. It will be good to have 2 intelligent people in the White House. ( Of course we already have ONE smart person there: Laura Bush).

When it comes to class, Obama outshines his wife by about a million kilowatts, and I for one do not see any good coming from this appearance on The View. . . especially when airhead Hasselback baits and then springs the trap by twisting whatever Michelle says just to get a rise out of her.

"The View" is a show specifically designed for women, so us men do have a problem with it. But I watch it whenever someone I'm interested in is on. I would definitely like to see Michelle Obama on it. That would be TV worth watching.

I agree. I'm a woman and watching" the view" is usually just too much chatter for me, but I'd love to see Michelle Obama as a host for the day. I think she's fabulous and an asset to her husband despite what some others think. She has an independent mind. That's a good thing.
