Supermodels In Swimsuits: The Best Of The '70s (SLIDESHOW)

Swimsuits

Huffington Post/Sports Illustrated   First Posted: 06/12/08 06:12 AM ET Updated: 11/17/11 09:02 AM ET

After punishing America with things like disco music, butterfly collars and bean bags, the 1970s went on to redeem itself with classic rock, adorable All-American supermodels like Christie Brinkley and Cheryl Tiegs, and swimsuits that actually flattered women's figures. And because retro swimwear is back in a big way, we turned to that great bible on all things skimpy and scandalous--the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue--for the creme de la creme of '70s swimsuits.

Look at the woman sitting on the boat. There is no way she is actually sitting there. That is a photo shop crop job.

Professional photographers have ALWAYS been able to doctor up photos. Photoshop is just something that came out for the masses.

I think you have two photos misidentified as Christie Brinkley, when it is some other model.

Nice to see models with natural breasts instead of the saucer shaped mounds.

I'd like to personally thank those ladies for, umm, let's say... helping me through the transition from boy to teenager.

Are you sure you have the identities right? One of the pictures identified as Christie Brinkley looks nothing like her.

Ahhh yes. The good old days.
When supermodels looked like women, not 10 year old boy junkies.

No. I like real people.... not inflated, deflated, updated, airbrushed and lyposucked people.

It's almost sick that you think they are "meaty"........ AND you have 5 boys.... that's plain SAD.....cause they'll grow up to be the same pathetic losers who have no idea what real women are like.....and this country is already full of them.

Sad.

And you are doing this because....?
If you were to compare then and now. you'd find the women (I use the term loosely) much more emaciated and anatomically incorrect, the swimsuits more horrendous and in poor taste....
no woman wants to wear "butt floss".
and for that matter, no man either.

Wow, thanks for the memories. The first time I saw Christie in a swimsuit, I swear she was the most beautiful woman I ever saw.( Not a skinny little thing, either, by the way.) She still looks fantastic!

i like cheryl tiegs' feathered hair. is that wrong?

yes.

Not as long as your wearing your bell bottoms. Then it’s ok.

And not a single one of these heavenly beauties ever used her cellphone to attack an employee.

Beauty and manners -- works for me.

On second thought, they didn't have cellphones in the seventies.
