Stewart Pundits Inevitable

On Wednesday's "Daily Show," the day after Barack Obama declared victory in the Democratic primary, Jon Stewart laid into all the pundits who declared her nomination inevitable, ending with a 2006 clip of Joe Scarborough warning Barack Obama that it was going to be ugly.

I love Jon Stewart...so smart, so funny. I will agree that the media was tough on Hillary, but the media got tough on Obama too and he handled it with dignity and grace, unlike Hillary. As president of the United States, the most difficult job a person can take, they have to be able to take the heat. He weathered the storm so far and she didn't...the end!
Democrats need to get a grip and get on board. This country can't take another 4 years of Bush...which is exactly what McCain will be.

When the media was coming down on Obama, Hillary was all for telling Obama, "If you can't stand the heat- get out of the kitchen."

When Hillary and Bill got attacked they developed a persecution complex. They became such negative whiners. They couldn't handle it. Ironic because Hillary had stated many times that she could handle anything that the republicans would throw at her and she was certain that Barak wouldn't be able to survive all the crap that was going to come his way, In the end he did and she didn't.

The media didn't have it in for Hillary any more than they did for Obama. The only one that had a free pass from the media was John McCain.

Debra -- You're so right. The Clintons should have followed their own advice.

The video record shows that most of media coverage and punditry of Hillary was negative while speaking glowingly about Obama. Don't take my word for it. it's part of the video record. Why the fascist right media did this? They figured if they could help bring down their nemesis "the Clintons" a black man (even one who was half caucasian) would be easily defeated. Watch how CNN and Fox etc start rerunning the Rev. Wright footage over and over again during the GE and then look us in the face and ask "why won't this story go away?".

Listen, Hilary is an easy target. She and Bill are quintessential cheat shots. The media beat down was aimed at Hillary and Bill, not at women in general. They (the Republicans) have been waiting to get a chance for the smack down on those two since Bill was in the White House. They had tasted blood before and now they were going to go after the both of them. RWA wanted Hillary for alluding Whitewater and Bill for dodging the impeachment bullet. This particular beat down was a result of the Clinton's tenure in Washington. You should not take this as an attack on women overall.

God Bless John Stewart for keeping our public figures accountable for their words.

Another thing about words and actions, in all the platitudes given now to Her Royal Clinton..., has there been any mention of her faux pas about RFK? And the word attached to his initials? Oh now she's eloquent, sincere, magnificent... Boy, I tell you howdy! If the shoe were on the other foot and Presidential Nominee Brack Obama had said the things she and Bill have said...

While he was nailed, hammered ostrasized and brow beat by the press and MSM, for something his former Paster said, for weeks on end, and believe me it will be brought up again. Yet, her caustic remarks are being overshadowed by her debt ridden, non-conceding speech, loaded with praise of herself, give backs, laden with strings and games. Plus her Congressional supporters are upholding her for her dispicable campaign, stirring up racial divide and lack of character, but most of all, upholding her in her dangerous innuendoes, of our Nations tragic events...Mother America is sick and needs treatment!

UNCONSCIONABLE BEHAVIOR ALL THE WAY!

He is absolutely 100% hilarious :-)

College-aged 'kids' -- I would think that's who generally watched his show most, anyway -- most definately, no doubt, have to be a more well-informed group of individuals re: the world around them due to this show, and the Colbert show.

.... On top of that his brand of satire is genious!

Anyone that says the media doesn't have a very anti-Clinton bias, has a very selective field of vision. Like, Jon Stewart.

The media is still trying to get some satisfaction for not destroying Bill Clinton. It's the very reason they went after Al Gore with such a vengeance in 2000. When most of you Obama fanboys were in like, third grade or something.

I keep hearing and reading about how Hillary Clinton is destroyed and the Clintons are finished, and Bill Clinton has changed and blah blah.

No, no bias there at all.

Speaking of inevitable, it's going to be funny to look back at all of the media that have already moved Obama into the White House, after Obama gets beaten badly in November.

That kind of belief system...i.e. the "Mark Penn" system is why she is the LOSER that she is.... go ahead send him another check if it will make you feel better. She ran a 2nd rate campaign and they din't read the tea leaves correctly, period Run a bad campaign and you lose.... she just proved the already known in American politics.... She was considered "in" until she blew Iowa... then the media figured out she might be vulnerable. That was something the media had not touched until then.... resulting in "It's her own damn fault, nobody elses.!"

That's not a bias, that's merely stating the facts. Noting the sun rises in the east does not display a bias against the sun rising in the west.

THIS is why I love TDS. Everyone's been thinking it, and they put it out there, in it's absurd, hysterical glory.

(And in fairness, juxtaposed with a montage of the same %$%$#s spouting unbelievable sexism when she started losing.)

So why are ANY of those pundits still employed?

Why are any of the pundits who thought that Powells presentation to the UN was compelling, or who thought there were WMD's in Iraq or who thought and told us, the American people, that Saddam had ties with al Qaida still employed? Or the fools who got woodies when Bush landed on the aircraft carrier.

Does it occur to anyone else out there that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are the only "real" news out there? That every other news or pundit on American television is purveying "fake" news?

American "news" is in sad, sad shape.

But thank God we have Stewart and Colbert.

Durango I agree with ya....We don't have news ..it's called rate my space. Follow the talking heads and you're the grand prize winner!!! It's all about the money. Their concern isn't about education the public, just using the public to earn a living.

If ya don't take the time to research various concerns, they will saturate ur mind with there agenda.
Our political process has been elevated this year. I enjoy the reading and sometimes responding to the comments here. I do hope everyone enjoy the weekend

I can't stand it when Joe has the (literal) BULLY pulpit.

But Mika, or Tika, or Lika, or whatever her name is, is such a simpering fool - her comments when a guest is speaking, like "oh, yes", "no kidding", "I was sad" or other useless drivel, just drives me bonkers.

I watch C-Span mostly. Not any reverend re-runs over there.

I so agree with you. I go to C-Span too.
Joe's ego is too big. I wonder how his wife stands him.
And shallow, lame brain Mika is so annoying for exactly the reasons you stated. Moans, groans, sighs, too. Drives me nuts. She's like mother hen. I feel she's riding her father's coat tails.
The show is unwatchable to me.

Scaborough obviously received the recent GOP's talking points. Scaborough reported that the pundits and the media were antagonistic toward Hillary. The GOP believe they can manipulation Hillary's supporters replacing them for the forgotten evangelical christian votes.

The pundits aren't pontificating on what they think will happen, they are trying to influence what's going to happen. And they almost got away with it.
