Stewart Pundits Inevitable

On Wednesday's "Daily Show," the day after Barack Obama declared victory in the Democratic primary, Jon Stewart laid into all the pundits who declared her nomination inevitable, ending with a 2006 clip of Joe Scarborough warning Barack Obama that it was going to be ugly.

Incredible how this clip brings so much- languishing disappointment, months, years, into context... With a welcome howl of laughter.!.. it oughtta be kept in a museum.... or a presidential Library.

The ONLY thing that Scarborough has ever gotten right is when he did that long segment questioning Bush's sanity and mental health.

Sign that you are probably being stupid: Jon Stewart says so.

If the Clintonites want to deny it and go to wherever they go, it's fine but it's truth baby.

It's funny Jon says people enjoy his show until he does one thing and then it's like "your show sucks"

Ah well, who needs'em anyhow.

So far this year, the best TV election coverage has come from a show that bills itself "fake news."

Gotta love politics in this country!

Funny, funny sh*t!

As usual, Stewart & Company nail it, which is what makes it so hilarious.

It's a sad commentary when the best source for unbiased news is from Comedy Central.

That said, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are awesome!

Scarborough, Buchanon and Tucker Carlson all pretended they were recently-enlightened conservatives who, after 6 - 7 years of Bush blunders, had suddenly seen the light. But it was all a charade.

All they were doing was attempting to set up moderate and independent voters so they could subtly influence them toward Republican goals at key points along the Presidential campaign trail.

It seemed clear to me that the GOP brain trust had concluded that Sen. Clinton would be easier to beat than Sen. Obama because of her high negatives - especially when it came to energizing the conservative base. So most of their spin tended to denigrate Obama (i.e. "he'd be easiest to beat") and provide a lift to Hillary ("a formidable candidate").

Chris Mathews actually called out Pat Buchanon on this last night when - when Buchanon criticized the media and the Obama people for "unfairly bashing Hillary" - Chris (alluding to reports that McCain was trying to cherry-pick disgruntled Clinton advocates) shouted: "I know what you're doing, Pat. It's a direct lift from the latest Republican list of talking points!"

I loved the Lincoln bit and God help me I almost fell out of my chair when Lincoln realized he was in a theater :-)

The media was in the bag for Hillary. Obama forced a change of story with his great campaign.

I distinctly remember Barack being so tired of answering questions about Clinton's inevitability that he said that at some point there will be an actual election and the media will have to find something else to talk about. It was all about Clinton winning. Now it is all about sexism. Let's face it, the more people got to know Hillary, the less they liked her and her husband. The more they got to know Barack, the more they liked him. Look at those crossing lines on the graph.
