Snub

On the same day that a CBS News poll found that 64 percent of Americans think Sen. John McCain is the same or even more conservative than President Bush, news has leaked that McCain will be "snubbing" Bush at an upcoming fundraiser.

"McCain will not attend President Bush's fundraising dinner for congressional candidates," The Hill reported, "in another indication that the GOP nominee is distancing himself from the man he wants to replace."

But a look at McCain's public schedule finds that the presumptive GOP nominee has no other public events scheduled for the day of the Bush event.

More from The Hill:

McCain's campaign did not comment but the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) confirmed that the Arizona senator will not attend the annual event, which will take place on June 18. A source familiar with McCain's schedule said he is expected to be in Texas on June 18.

"Maybe he found a better dinner?" Republican Study Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), chair of the event for the NRCC said. "When he's the president, he can attend lots of president's dinners."

Ah, the fun continues. How to run and hide from the George, while trying to get him to help out with raising money. On a list of a (baker's) dozen reasons why McCain will not win, I have as #1:

1. The McBush factor. McCain’s support of the Iraq War will make it impossible for him to break from Bush, the most unpopular president in living memory. The photo/video of McCain hugging and being kissed by Bush will become increasingly embedded in the collective consciousness of the American people as the months roll on.

Great link. I think many should read this to get a little primer on McSame.
But the link to Kos as to his calling his wife the c word is in Obama's quiver should McSame ever allow those ads to get too personal.

Let's hope the candidates stick to the issues. I have no problem with the Dems doing this, the Repugs on the other hand know no other way of winning than personal attacks.

Let's see if McSame has any power over the party he supposedly is the leader of.

McCain has certainly had what can only be described as a tortured relationship with Bush...initially during the 2000 campaign relations were hostile, then it became chummy when McCain knew the only way he would win the nomination is if he kissed up to the core Repubs who went for Bush...he may come to deeply regret that decision.

I heard a lefty radio station in Arizona bought a bunch of big billboards and slapped huge pics of Bush and McCain on 'em when Johnny came home recently. I wonder if it was one of those creepy man-hug shots?

Try all you want, Gramps, but you and ol' Georgie Boy are joined at the hip. One and the same.

But why are the congressional candidates meeting with GW? They must all have a death wish...or must really need the money since JonBoy has decided to take all of the funds from the RNC.

Agreed...don't they know he is radioactive? Or is it pure delusion that makes them think that Bush could ever help them with anything other than certain defeat?

This has got to be one of the most embarrassing moments in GOP history. Why would the presumptive nominee not want to be seen with the sitting President?

I mean this is a man he supported and campaigned for TWICE!!! IS he telling us something about HIS judgement?

Obama should note this in his speech. If McCain cannot judge the suitability of Bush as president can he trusted to be president?

John simply doesn't like rubber Chicken Kiev with large lukewarm peas and rice pilaf accompanied by a glass of screw cap Chardonnay so cheap it makes you pucker. That's why he isn't going to the fundraiser, not because he wants to avoid G.W. Bush. Right?

I don't think Mccain really wants to be president. He doesn't exhibit much confidence in what he says and he keeps changing his views on a daliy basis.

It's almost as if he is screaming DONT VOTE FOR ME PLEASE!

Yes, and he needs to quit his snarky snicker that he uses when he talks. He laughs at his own 'jokes' while he talks but no one else thinks they are funny.
