Obama's In Control: No More Lobbyist Contributions To Democratic Party

ABC News reports:

It's been less than two days since he crossed the delegate threshold to become the Democratic presidential nominee and Sen. Barack Obama's mark on the party is already being felt.

On Good Morning America Thursday, ABC News' Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos reported "the Democratic National Committee will no longer accept contributions from federal lobbyists, will no longer take contributions from PACs" in keeping with Obama's well-publicized policy.

UPDATE: DNC issues a statement:

"The DNC and the Obama Campaign are unified and working together to elect Barack Obama as the next president of the United States. Our presumptive nominee has pledged not to take donations from Washington lobbyists and from today going forward the DNC makes that pledge as well," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "Senator Obama has promised to change the way things are done in Washington and this step is a sure sign of his commitment. The American people's priorities will set the agenda in an Obama Administration, not the special interests."

Obama has shown and continues to show that he is a man of integrity and a man of his word. I expect we'll see much of this in the coming days. This is what will bring the voters (Democrats, Independents and Republicans, too) to the voting booth for Obama in November.

Not that elephant in the room who once said that Obama has nothing more to offer the American people than, "lofty but empty rhetoric." No, not that elephant who's continued to say over and over, in describing Obama, "Words are cheap," although, godknows she'd know, since she's also the one who once said of herself, "I measure my life, not by applause or headlines, but by whether I’m helping people.”

Wow! It shows that Obama prepared well for his presidential candidacy. He and his new team will secure their base and sit firmly in the saddle long before Hillary at long last gets around to giving up ungracefully.
I don't believe that anybody this brilliant can be blackmailed into a ménage-à-trois with Hill & Bill which would completely ruin his message of change. What he needs is a strong partner as VP who will bring experience in foreign relations and defence. What he does NOT need is old Hillary, unless you count fictitious sniper fire as foreign experience.
