ABC News reports:

It's been less than two days since he crossed the delegate threshold to become the Democratic presidential nominee and Sen. Barack Obama's mark on the party is already being felt.

On Good Morning America Thursday, ABC News' Chief Washington Correspondent George Stephanopoulos reported "the Democratic National Committee will no longer accept contributions from federal lobbyists, will no longer take contributions from PACs" in keeping with Obama's well-publicized policy.

UPDATE: DNC issues a statement:

"The DNC and the Obama Campaign are unified and working together to elect Barack Obama as the next president of the United States. Our presumptive nominee has pledged not to take donations from Washington lobbyists and from today going forward the DNC makes that pledge as well," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "Senator Obama has promised to change the way things are done in Washington and this step is a sure sign of his commitment. The American people's priorities will set the agenda in an Obama Administration, not the special interests."

Well, I guess it is time for me to include the DNC (along with BARACKOBAMA.COM) to my monthly budget!

Since they are finally working for me I will invest in them!

Harry Reid is hinting Joe LIEberman may lose his committee chairmanships after the next election. Hallelujah -- it's about time that smarmy turncoat sack o' crap got tossed out on his ass. If the Democrats pick up a few more seats they can make him Permanent Chairman of the Senate Latrine Committee.

That's called putting your money where your mouth is. If he did this on his 2nd day as nominee, I'm excited to think what he'll do on his 800th day as President.

On Tuesday night McShame said over and over in his speech that Sen. Obama's ideas of change were not changes this country needed. Well this particular change is looking pretty dam good to me. Can't wait to see the republican response to this. HUFFPOST - do us a favor put this article as a head line PLEASE!

This is a big step to take back the government from those who only wish to treat it as a "cash cow" for their financial benefit.

Great quote from Charles Rangel...
"We're Democrats. Dammit to hell we fight. When it's over, we come together and go out there to win,"

It is very important for the future of this country to reject the "business as usual" attitude of the McCain crowd.

Like the old TV show of the 60s...this "Maverick's" campaign should not be renewed.

"Change We Can Believe In!"

Indeed!! My wife excitedly called me at work to tell me this outstanding news when she heard it on CNN earlier. God bless Barack Obama! He's not just "talking the talk", but he's "walking the walk!" This man is already starting to change the inner dynamics of the game. In your face Republicans! It's not surprising people can now hear the man and his ideas and plans, now that Hillary and Slick Willie aren't around yapping and biting him about the ankles. I better get our checkbook ready this weekend because we're definitely giving Senator Obama some moola!

Man, I feel so good now that Hillary is conceding. It's time for the Clintons to step aside so this man can take his rightful place without being dissed or marginalized by the Clintons and their supporters. As for that old Cold War relic McCain...bring it on, Gramps!

You know, I'm glad the Rev Wright thing happened. Because otherwise Barak is too good to be true. I was begining to wonder if he was TOO perfect. But now, I know he's human.

Besides, the american people have already decided it's not a big deal, so when the Repubs try to use it in the GE, they are already behind the times.

Alethea, I strongly agree with you. Even very good people, with high dreams and noble intentions, will make mistakes, take a tumble or two in life or step into a mud puddle now and then. It only makes one human to do so. If nothing else, the Rev. Wright situation strengthen Barack's resolve and it didn't shake his faith to believe in who he is. Lesser people would have folded under the onslaught of pressure and criticism he received. But he kept his pride and dignity through it all and kept his eyes on the prize!

Lobbyists have become a cancer in our government. If Barrack can remove this scourge he will indeed be a great President.

To paraphrase Red Barber, "Oh Mama! Barack Obama!"

Obama knows that a Government shoukd be OF THE PEOPLE and BUT THE PEOPLE.

A few lobbyists with money behind them SHOULD NOT have the say on the direction a country should take ............... THE PEOPLE SHOUD BE DOING THAT.

Obama's campaign finds will come FROM THE PEOPLE AND NOT LOBBYISTS.

I HAVE NOW DUBBED OBAMA AS "THE PEOPLE'S PRESIDENT"

This should be in banner headlines on every newspaper, TV, and political website. It's F*@%!N' huge! "For and by the people" anyone? Then I stop and think, "It probably won't be because all the media have so much money tied up in lobbyists and they're going to try to kill it. Wouldn't it be nice if we all did something for the greater good?
