Vanity Fair To Gina Gershon: No Correction To Bill Clinton Story

TMZ reports:

Vanity Fair is standing by its story insinuating that Bill Clinton had an affair with Gina Gershon.

In a statement to TMZ, V.F. honcho Beth Kseniak says, "Todd Purdum's article does not indicate that former President Bill Clinton had an improper relationship with Gina Gershon. The story merely examines the concerns of some of Clinton's aides about reports of his behavior. We don't believe that any correction is warranted."

Earlier this week, Gershon had her lawyers fire off a letter to the venerable publication:

The demand letter claims the article "outrageously insinuates that Ms. Gershon has had an inappropriate sexual relationship with President Clinton. This is absolutely false."

The letter demands "a retraction and correction."

In the July Vanity Fair, a profile on Clinton mentions "more recent high-end Hollywood dinner-party gossip that Clinton has been seen visiting with the actress Gina Gershon in California."

Nothing reported about Bill Clinton surprises me - it's a known fact (Paula, Monica, etc..) he likes his women, and has a problem keeping his zipper closed.

The rumors seem to have been real and I guess that's all the article said. Still, VF should have printed something saying Gerson has denied the existance of an affair.

For what, the article did not suggest a sexual relationship, inappropriate of otherwise. I wonder why she is protesting so loudly?

What seems to have troubled Gershon and the lawyers was the implication that she and Bubba had engaged in 'inappropriate' sex. I'm guessing she thought instead that the sex was appropriate.

I heard about this story more than a year ago. Why is it now an issue. It's been out there on the web for quite awhile. It's not something that would surprise anyone but the Hillary koolaid supporters. He's not protesting too much. But she doesn't want to be associated. He probably tried, but I don't think he's her type.

Too bad for Gina, but she should have known hanging around Bill Clinton might lead people to believe something more then dinner company was going down. I read the VF story and it's true, it only discusses the take of Clinton's own advisors about his associations with various women. If Gina is mad, she should bring it up with whichever Clinton camp members perceived that Bill was up to no good with Gershon.

I'm glad they stuck by their position. I had to go buy it to find out why the big brouhaha. Purdum said that gossip had been heard linking Bill to Gina. So what? It's gossip. That doesn't make it true. And her response was just a bit over the top. And it was so violent, it recalls that old saying of "where's there's smoke, there's fire". Even if it wasn't intended. She should just let it die its own natural death. As it will.
