Eliza Doolittle is set for another bigscreen makeover.

Columbia Pictures is tuning up a "My Fair Lady" redo, with Keira Knightley in talks to star as the simple Cockney flower girl who is transformed into a lady.

The studio declined comment on casting of the project, being produced by Duncan Kenworthy ("Love Actually," "Notting Hill") and London legit maven Cameron Mackintosh.

CBS Films, which owns the film rights to the Lerner & Loewe musical, will co-produce and Sony will distribute.

I might be able to like her if she would eat a little.

Oh God no.

Is Hollywood running out of ideas. Why try to remake a classic? It's ridiculous. If I want to see My Fair Lady, I won't go to this one, I'll put in a DVD of the ONLY one.

Thumbs down--not to Keira, but to this idea.

Hollywood made a mistake not putting Julie Andrews in the movie MY FAIR LADY to reprise her broadyway role so you had Audrey Hepburn lip synching.

Now they again are making a mistake.

Wasn't Julie busy doing Mary Poppins at the time?

A remake is a mistake. I suppose it will updated with modern pop music or some rot like that.

Hollywood please get an original idea!

Jack Warner wanted a name for My Fair Lady - not an unknown like Andrews. He also wantrd Cary Grant for professor Higgins. shudder

Andrews did Mary Poppins as a consolation and walked off with the Oscar. However it's still sad she's not in it.

Just one of many bad movie musical miscastings - Lucille Ball as Mame, Rosaland Russel in Gypsy, Travolta in Hairspray, Broderick in the Music Man.......... ugh.

i agree with the poster that said natalie portman would be perfect. i think kiera is a pretty enough girl, but i'm tired of seeing her in these "authentic" period pieces.... the reason being that she is so damn skinny; by the beauty standards of any of the time periods that she plays in, she would have been considered a very sickly young woman. enough with the role models for our girls that make them think that they can never be thin enough!!!!

natalie portman is beautiful, talented, and although thin, not an unhealthy thin. she looks like she actually eats!

Wendy Hiller was good.
But that was 1938 in the first version of Shaws 'Pygmalion'.
This story is beyond the remake stage, its almost a classic tale.

Oh God. Apparently the only requirement for the role is being anorexic.

I love Keira but this is a mistake. She is not Audrey Hepburn.

Yes. You can count on one hand the remakes of classics that did well. Keira, stay away from this.

I love my fair lady. It's my favorite musical. I don't think anyone can top Hepburn and Julie Andrew

Natalie Portman would be perfect. Keira is just the poor man's version of Portman. I personally don't think she can sing well, althought Hepburn couldn't either, so I guess that doesn't matter.

I really hate it when Americans do a British accent, and vice versa.
Portman is extremely talented, but if I watch this flick, I don't want to constantly be thinking about that.

If there HAS to be a remake, she'd be perfect.

Keira's delightful and talented -- she'll be great! Audrey Hepburn was one of a kind, but My Fair Lady is not the role I'll remember her for. She shone in the BIlly Wilder films -- he really knew how to use her, and she was so young, like Keira is now. I look forward to her performance in the new version.
