Selena Gomez, Disney Starlet, Proclaims Her Abstinence Until Marriage

The star of Disney's latest hit, Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena Gomez, revealed to "Extra" that she plans to abstain from sex until marriage.

The 15-year-old who's being hailed the new Miley Cyrus declared, "I said, 'Dad, I want a promise ring.' He went to the church and got it blessed. He actually used me as an example for other kids. I'm going to keep my promise to myself, to my family and to G-d."

those "promise rings" are a joke. Most of the girls who "take the pledge" end up being MORE sexually active than those who dont.

The problem with announcing something like that is that A, 90% of the population won't wait until marriage so the odds are against you and B, you paint a target on yourself. The last person we saw make this announcement was Britney Spears, and we all know how well that turned out.

What is it with these freaking Christians who feel the world is interested in their sex life? Have sex, don't have sex, who cares? Announcing it is spiritual nudity which is considerably less attractive than the physical kind. She's putting all her goods in the shopwindow.

Maybe the goal is to send a message..you can still be cute and cool and not have sex till your married. Even if you cant see anything good in it....there is nothing WRONG with it..not for the time being anyway..let her promote her lil message and give some lil girls some self esteem and empowerment

This just sounds like a publicity stunt to try and overshadow the LAST big thing from the world of tweens and teens that got herself knocked up. The Spears girls.

I'd rather a girl had a healthy sex drive by the time she's ready to marry and knows how to please the man she is in love with JUST like he should be able to. Nothing worse than two adult virgins on a wedding night.
