New York Times:

Now that a would-be first female president is ending her quest for the White House, the race is more about women than ever before.

With Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's ending her campaign for the Democratic nomination, the presumptive nominees are moving to claim her followers, especially her signature bloc, the millions of women who cast primary votes for her.

As my grandma used to say:

I'm a woman, and Hillary doesn't "own" me ... I voted for Barack Obama.

Wonder how women who voted for HRC feel about being "owned" by her ???

Why do we keep babying these women as if they have a point. Hillary lost to a better candidate. She lost this thing when she lost Texas. He won:
1. More contests
2. Popular vote
He also:
3. Outraised her
4. Brought in more new voters

Which means absolutely nothing.
What matters is that he won more DELEGATES!
Get up, dust yourselves off , stop feeling sorry for yourselves and let's go out and kick some McCain butt.
We have to end this sorry ass war, get some decent healthcare for all americans, mend fences around the world and get this economy back on track.

First let me preface this by saying that I am an elderly, white woman in the South. Now having said that, those faces in that crowd of Hillary supporters looked more like disciples than supporters/voters. I think these 'ladies' may be thinking more in terms of a latter day feminist movement than a presidential election. Something akin to bra, pantyhose, girdle burning along with a few errant husbands. I don't see that particular type of woman going for Barack Obama. They seem like zealots. Maybe they could back Hillary as some newfangled sort of religious leader in this country - a sect that only allows females and could make Hillary their guru or pope. Those ladies look absolutely scary but ready to move on SOMETHING.

It is interesting to me that people would put so much blind faith into their selected candidates that the candidate becomes more important than the issues. That does not make any sense. We are not voting for a new Jesus Christ, we are trying to choose a nominee for President.

Maybe it is easier for me, since neither Clinton nor Obama was anywhere near my first choice for nominee. Nevertheless, I never for a second considered voting for anyone on the Republican ticket other than Ron Paul. Bush's wars are abominations, and I will vote for whomever will end them quickly. The idea of staying in Iraq in order to protect the Iraqis from Cheney-knows-what, is absurd. We should be willing to lend them a helping hand, but after the mess we have made of things up to now, I imagine they will be happy to see just our hind sides.

So let me get this straight, Hillary Clinton was mathematically out of the pledge delegate count since early March, and we all know this is true because in spite of her good showing since that time (exceeding expectations) the Super Ds are the ones that had to gang up on her AFTER the last primary to do an intervention. It is clear that Hillary has tried to divide the party and split it apart since mid-March, in spite of her having no chance of winning.

Now, with her spending the last three months whipping up her voters with false hopes and lies about people forcing her out (when no one obviously did), many of her voters are acting bruised and angry. Can someone explain to me what Hillary and her voters have to be so angry about? Hillary has been treated like a spoiled child who was allowed to play on, in spite of a lopsided score for the last three months. Again, she didn't have to quit, but the way she campaigned, she caused this problem with whipping up her voters with false hope.

Why are her people mad at Obama when it seems that all of their complaints are against the media and not him? I just do not get the anger of the Hillary crowd. McCain is the enemy. What am I missing?

Many warned HRC of the danger of her strategy and tackts because it would generate attitudes and divisions sure to be hard to overcome, ie comments like these and comments that still seem to flood her website. Hillary left this attitude unchecked and allowed them to take a life of their own and when they did she road the wave.. Hillary needs to admit that she strategically created such divisive needs in so that she could win, otherwise, once again, she gets a way with creating another mess and leaving the other guy holding the broom.

I think Dean really nailed it ,

“We all get over it when our candidates don’t win,” he said. “What you don’t get over is feeling like you’ve been insulted by some of the leading institutions in America and no one said anything about it.”

Nothing will change the fact that McCain, Bush, and the Republicans are extremely hostile to women's concerns.

There is something very wrong with the feminist
anallysis.

We have eight women governors not to speak of a
hundred and eighty-seven women in the House and
Senate.

Those women were elected because they conducted
themselves with gravity and common sense.

None of them experienced the kind of abuse Hillary
suffered on MSNBC because none of them ran
ridiculous campaigns or made claims (three times)
that they had run from sniper bullets.

In fact Hillary has been cut more slack than any women
candidate in the history of women candidates.

How long would it take to force Sebelius or Granholm
out if they had manufactured some hallucination about
running from sniper bullets -- three times!

Feminism desperately needs reform, Steinem's ideological
feminism needs to go, we need an evidence-based
feminism in which the facts actually describe the state of
affairs.

I am a mother and I believe McCain will reinstate the draft if elected. I don't believe him for one minute when he says he won't. He changes his position to fit the political climate. His own sons are in the military, he won't hesitate to send ours. He is from a military family and only brings war to the table. He thrives on war and has his eye on Iran. Our children will be sent to war instead of college. He is a very dangerous man. Please vote issues and push emotions aside. Listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl9YE4G8gcY

“Drawn to Clinton by "her tenacity, her resilience, her intelligence, the depth of her knowledge;" aghast at a media she felt ignored or belittled those things, Richbourg drew this conclusion from the campaign: "There's more sexism than racism in America."”

I would love her to show me any news reports of women being sexually-profiled and stopped while driving because they are women, or that they are not allowed to rent an apartment based on gender, or they are driven out their neighborhoods based on gender, or they had crosses burned in their front yard based on gender, or their property is vandalized because of their gender or they were tied with chains and dragged by a pickup truck because they were women. When I see those reports, I will be more open to believing there's more sexism than racism in America. What a load of freakin' baloney, and these are the people who vote; god help America for sure.

Now that O has defeated C, now is NOT the time to become complacent. We need to continue volunteering for the O campaign, in whatever capacity is needed.

O has only jumped the first hurdle. He now needs to take on the Pugs. Let's get out there and do more than just vote! O needs us as much now as at any other time!!!

Go O - Fired up! Ready to go!

I could not agree more - I worked on the voter registration drive for the primaries and will do so for the GE. I live on a set income so my monetary contributions are almost nonexistent, but I can volunteer my time which is just as important.

Just finished looking at the taylor marsh blog site. WHEW! They are still spewing that HRC venom over there. I am tired of people telling us to extend the olive branch to them, to be gracious in victory. I believe the true democrats will vote for Sen O, the rest...well, I believe is a lost cause and I am at a point where I don't even care if they come along or not! It is getting more difficult each day. You know what, we really haven't had a chance to celebrate our nominees victory because we've been focusing on the LOSER!

Turn the page..

Women, in less than a year a woman, Ivy league educated, lawyer will enter the White House to serve as first lady. After eight years of her popular and successful tenure, she'll successfully run for high office and garner significant executive and governing experience. Soon thereafter she'll run for and serve the highest office in the land. Let's see if we can make that happen, OK? Or not, and while not, end choice, continue war and put the USA's international reputation out of its misery.

So after all the hysteria about a Bsh/Clntn/Bsh dynasty, you want to add and Ob@m@ dynasty. Oh..I get it, it's not DYNASTIES you object to...just so long as it's your guy or girl?

Does the word, hypocrite mean anything to you?

Although I must add that I do not necessarily believe in "dynasties", I also must point out that "dynasties" that do not repeatedly demonstrate the desire to exploit the many for the benefit of the few are an entirely different matter from the "different shades of Republicanism" that the Bush/Clinton years represented.

Obama chica here. I do not support an Obama dynasty, either. Fedup does not speak for more than themselves.

Having said that, I've never seen fedup say that they oppose dynasties, so your cry of Hypocrite is uncalled for, rude, and reactionary.

Voter registration is an exhilarating experience - I do wish more people would take the time and volunteer for even a few hours.
