Lindsey Graham

Senator John McCain has aggressively tried to distance himself from Bush in an effort to avoid being tagged by Democrats as running for Bush's third term. However, as Think Progress notes, McCain's chief surrogate, Senator Lindsey Graham, did not adhere to that message during his appearance on ABC's This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos asked Sen. Graham if McCain's tax and healthcare policies are essentially "an extension or maybe an enhancement of the Bush policies." Sen. Graham answered, "Yeah, absolutely."

Finally, someone in the McCain camp, Sen. Lindsey Graham a staunch McCain supporter and one of his chief surrogates if I may add, admits what we all already know, that John McCain is running for Bush's third term.

I thought that that was already self-evident given the fact that 95% of the time, McCain voted on behalf of the Bush agenda, but no matter this just adds to the case...

This news does not come as a big surprise, but I think that it's important that people are out there saying it anyway. There need to be more folks getting this message out there.

I keep hearing the Credence song "Fortunate Son"
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no senator's [Admirals] son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son

Senator McCain, Lindsey Graham just said you have the same tax policies as Bush.

So? I do...

He said it on Stephanopoulos.

We first heard of Lindsey Graham when he was a chief tormentor of President Clinton during the House Impeachment debacle. Little Lindsey saw his chance to jump out ahead of the lynch mob, and took full advantage of those procedings - and the everpresent cameras, to present himself as a gadfly for morality, a Republican crusader with a fresh face. He won a Senate seat out of it, but there's nothing fresh about him now. He and Lieberman are McCain's Gestapo. Lindsey suports the Iraq war all the way - he's yesterday's stale coffee and he needs to be marginalized and ignored, and voted out when the time comes. It's amazing the people of South Carolina are so - well, you know.

How did Lindsey Graham ever get elected, let alone re-elected? The man was rendered speechless by John Kerry, for God's sake.

HA! That made me laugh.

Kerry > Graham, and that really says something.

He was good for Israel even he was not good for the US. Unless you have been living in a different planet, it is very obvious theses days that is all you need to be qualified for reelection in this country!

C'mon, give the guy a break: He's still giddy over buying five rugs for five buck in Baghdad and can't believe there's a better place to shop than Wal-Mart.

Seems I recall a teevee newsmagazine report that focused on where Graham made exceptions to the lock-step support of certain military policies by his party. Sounds like the very sort of thing "mavericks" like McCain used to engage in.
Lindsey and Joe Lieberman have been frick and frack lately, acting as McCain's literal (and figurative) shadows. Wonder where such other die-hard Senate mouthpiece-enbabler-surrogates like Orrin Hatch have been hiding themselves lately; methinks they harbor some grave doubts, either over McCain's stubborn refusal to go along with certain core extreme right/Repub principles or, ultimately over the presumptive candidate's electability.

It's always nice when the opposition offers up some sweet campaign material for Obama.
Thanks, Commander Toadie!

A toadie is never ashamed of a King Toad's policies. South Carolina, you can do much better than this national embarrassment (please).

Unfortunately, it would seem that we can't.
Goodness knows I've tried to do my part... I have never voted for any of the current lot in Washington (Senators Graham and DeMint or Rep. Wilson (2nd District)).
It'll continue this way until a substantial segment of the population dies off or enough apathetic folks decide to vote for something better. BTW, the state government is no better (actually worse in many ways).
