Senator John McCain has aggressively tried to distance himself from Bush in an effort to avoid being tagged by Democrats as running for Bush's third term. However, as Think Progress notes, McCain's chief surrogate, Senator Lindsey Graham, did not adhere to that message during his appearance on ABC's This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos asked Sen. Graham if McCain's tax and healthcare policies are essentially "an extension or maybe an enhancement of the Bush policies." Sen. Graham answered, "Yeah, absolutely."

I seriously believe that the GOP is trying to hang itself, throwing this election (ala Bill Clinton) for their own reasons. Make it easier to hang all the looming crisis on the Dems necks perhaps.

People clearly forgot that Vietnam was JFK's war.

And 58,000 haven't died yet.

I had been thinking that a McCain-Bush team would be ideal (as in Medvedev-Putin in Russia), but perhaps a McCain-Graham team would be better. Senator Graham, because of his service in the Army JAG, would understand the fine points of torture, denial of habeas corpus, and warrantless eavesdropping deeply, thus making Cheney unnecessary (except in unusual circumstances, of course). So, all we need are bumper stickers: McCain-Graham in 1908.

Can the GOP de-nominate McCain? And put someone else in his place? I hope not. The fatal baggage on the old dog would make an entertaining campaign.

At the repug convention, not a de-nomination but an alternate candidate could be nominated by supporters. It was only recently that each party's candidate was known before the convention as primaries pretty much resolved the issue. But it can happen.

I agree with you mystic, let's hope it doesn't happen!

Sen. Graham probably didn't get the memo to not tie Bush and McSane.

Lindy, you're doing a heck of a job! Keep it up...I am sure ol' Gramps McCain is just itching to make you his VP with comments like this. Two stupid Republican peas in a pod! I can't wait for the Obama/McCain debates to begin.

The Democrats: "Yes We Can!"

The Republicans: "No, We Can't...Gramps nneds his nap first"

Obama/Sebelius for 2008
OR
Obama/Richardson for 2008

Americans who would vote for McCain are just fooling themselves if they think he will bring anything to the party except more of the same neo-con scam for which the Bush regime is so famous!
Really, let's kick these criminals out of office ~ no matter their position in government!

Let's be clear their object is to continue to fool the 'low information voter' especially those who will tend to believe that a white is more believable than a black. This is McCain's one and strongest advantage in this contest and his advisors will try to capitalize on this throughout the general election. In its final analysis, it will come down to if there are an adequate majority of white citizens who can listen objectively to the McCain v. Obama debate and gather the required facts and turn their decision based upon them. Otherwise, McCain will win while openly giving mixed signals about his policies and his continuation of Bush policies.

When Pat Buchanan keep asking this morning why Obama isn't beating McCain by larger numbers in the polls, he is infering that there is something wrong with Obama, while taunting the Democrats that they made the wrong choice in picking a black guy to run against a white guy. He is gloating at them that he believes there are still too many white guys like him, who will in the end---vote for the white guy, period.

McCainʻs "Little Jerk", Lindsay Graham. He epitomizes the hypocritical Republicans-stays safely hidden, deep in the closet, voting against equal rights for gays.

How about trying to keep just that one talking POINT straight? Let's not overburden them, their little right-wing brains smoking with trying to make McCain palatable and the least bit relevant.

This is gonna be a fun campaign!

Lindsay Graham is one of the best assets of the OBAMA '08 campaign. So is John McBush. All one has to do is listen to McBush for 5 minutes and one is easily convinced to vote for Obama.

Let me see, I can choose to endure four more years of the McSame economic, social and political agenda as Bush and Herbert Hoover and Millard Fillmore or I can vote to move the United States into the 21st Century with a vision of our national potential in an interactive world. Hmmmm. When do the hard questions start?

In Germany, Obama is perceived as "peace-loving and cooperative, and those are the kind of traits Germans admire in a foreign politician", while McCain has "a reputation there for his sharp attacks against German politicians -- his fits of rage are feared and his political positions are known because of the numerous debates he has taken part in". In Germnany McCain is considered a "Cold War relic".

Obama campaign: Take note. McCain is reviled overseas just like Bush.

They should ask, How is it that you are against unions because they drive wages up, and you are against illegals because they drive wages down?

Now unhappy Hillary supporters, do you still insist on voting for John McCain? Or do you accept the fact that she came up a little short in the campaign and Obama is our candidate?

There should be no question what so ever!
