Senator John McCain has aggressively tried to distance himself from Bush in an effort to avoid being tagged by Democrats as running for Bush's third term. However, as Think Progress notes, McCain's chief surrogate, Senator Lindsey Graham, did not adhere to that message during his appearance on ABC's This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos asked Sen. Graham if McCain's tax and healthcare policies are essentially "an extension or maybe an enhancement of the Bush policies." Sen. Graham answered, "Yeah, absolutely."

McBush and the Repukelicans just don't get it.

"Mr. McCain, laboring under the misapprehension that he was wittily skewering his opponent, compulsively invoked the Obama-patented mantra of 'change' 33 times in his speech. Mr. McCain only reminded voters that he, like Mrs. Clinton, thinks that change is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. He has no idea what it means. 'No matter who wins this election, the direction of this country is going to change dramatically,' he said on Tuesday. He then grimly regurgitated Goldwater and Reagan government-bashing talking points from the 1960s and ’70s even as he presumed to accuse Mr. Obama of looking 'to the 1960s and ’70s for answers.'" -- Frank Rich, NY Times today

As you get older you stick with what you know. After seventy years of age new ideas are beyond you.

As a CPA and an MBA for over 30 years, I can tell you that Senator Kerry nailed it. The Federal Corporate Income Tax rate is 35%, but after deductions and other tax breaks the rate is much less than 35%. Some large corporations do not even pay any Federal Corporate Income Taxes every year, and they have staffs whose full time job is tax avoidance.

Graham's argument is akin to saying that because you earn $50,000 and are married that you will pay 15% in Federal Income Taxes, which is the tax rate for that income bracket. That is not true. It depends on how many children you have, whether you itemize, etc. The effective federal income tax rate for taxpayers like that is less than 15%. The tax rate is calculated on taxable income and trust me corporations are adept and lowering taxable income.

Hope you all are still awake.

Tomorrow a glassy fixed eyed and monotone sounding Lindsey Graham wil be brought out before the public by a Republican spokesperson who will say " What Sen . Graham ment to say is
that John McCain is not Pres. Bush, isn't that right Senator. ? isn't that right. " and Graham will intone..." Yes, McCain not Bush, McCain not Bush, McCain not....... McCain not....... McCain....... McCain....... Mc..... Mc......" at which point the spokesperson will turn Graham around and walk him back inside.

The question does Sen. Graham care about US, no UBS. His balanced budget days are over and he and McCain have sold out to corporate lobbiest. The most critical issue with Sen. Graham is the removal of the Glass-Steagall which imposed firewalls between commercial banking and investment banking, and between the banking, brokerage, and insurance industries. So "We the people" bail out Bear-sterns and not the millions who have or are loosing their homes. Anyone voting for McCain must be a banker, a defense contractor, or a fool, because only a fool would vote against their best interests. From abortion rights, to being for a sane foreign policy, greening of our energy supply, the GOP is apposed to all of that and instead threaten us with Osama bin "boogie man".

So its no surprise that the truth is leaking out, the surprise is how close the election will be unless people wake up and get active not just for Obama but for their local races.

Glass-Steagall being revoked IS the reason we have this mortgage mess now. Bill Clinton could have stopped it...he was prez.

Joe Lieberman lauches Citizens for McCain to target Hillary supporting democrats.

The Nov 8th myth begins; Hillary split the party and the "unity" ticket of McCain/Liebeman '08 won out.

The fix is in folks. Better get ready.

It would have happened without Lieberman. That crowd is the Let's-Bomb-Iran crowd, and Obama won't play (unless it's in the US best interest ,which it's not).

Sad thing is.... there will be a millions of people who are willing to sign up for 4 more years of Bush BS. A lot of people are going to have to decide whats more important....

My reproductive organs or $4.00 (plus) gas prices?
Obama's skin color or National Healthcare?
Gay Marriage or a job?

Obama should use this type of ad in the Appalachia and other back wood communities. Lay out their choices and let them sort out what's more important.

Food on the table or Johm McCain?

it is unfortunate that years ago the Republican party was highjacked by these right wing neocons--for a party that is supposedly "religious" (and throw it in your face at every chance).. they are the most UNFORGIVING, hateful bunch of people you'd ever meet.

Given that McCain voted 95% in favor of Bushes policies, it didn't take Graham to point out the obvious. I'm sure he will issue a statement saying otherwise tomorrow.

McCain knows he is joined at the hip, thats why he hates the reference to Bush/McCain. McCain will be a far worse president than Bush - McCain is out of touch and flopping around cluelessly.
