New York Examiner:

If you're going to fire someone, you want to make sure you do it in a place where the now-unemployed can't make a scene.

You know...a place like, say, a church. That, according to a new book - "Machiavelli's Shadow" - by former Time magazine reporter Paul Alexander, is where President George W. Bush informed trusted advisor Karl Rove in 2007 that his services would no longer be needed at the White House.

Sounds like The Godfather, where Michael Corleone is in church as his mafia rivals are slain one by one.

It's not personal. It's just business.

I'm sure our Father in heaven blessed the event.

Fired in a church? More like on fire in a church. How is Rove able to step upon holy ground without his skin melting?

"Terrific job, Karly. You're fired. Let us pray."

Any minister worth his title would deliver a strong sermon on good stewardship verses

lying, stealing and murdering, knowing that these two sinners were in their congregation.

The thought of these two criminals conducting their dirty business in church makes me feel like I need to take another shower.

That much evil concentrated in one place, did it make the stained glass crack and statues fall off the walls?

They knew that this particular church had not been "bugged" yet, so their conversation was confidential. Plus, I would be willing to bet that ol' Karl is still on the taxpayer payroll.

He's consulting for both McBush and HRC, I'm sure of it.

Which denomition of church keeps cannons in their buildings?
Because I don't believe that Bush "fired" Rove unless it was out of a cannon (or at least a canon).

The Roman Catholic Church has the canon of the Mass.

Here are the parts of the service that Bush and Rove missed because they were talking:

The Confession:
ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore thou those who are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

The Prayer of Humble Access: (shortened)
We do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy . . . .

Well of course a church. Because only true Christians conduct business in a place so sacred as God's house...

Wonder if God served his usual brand of wafers and wine...
