New York Examiner:

If you're going to fire someone, you want to make sure you do it in a place where the now-unemployed can't make a scene.

You know...a place like, say, a church. That, according to a new book - "Machiavelli's Shadow" - by former Time magazine reporter Paul Alexander, is where President George W. Bush informed trusted advisor Karl Rove in 2007 that his services would no longer be needed at the White House.

George Walker Bush, coward to the end. Can't even stand the heat of canning one of his own. How utterly pathetic.

How did Karl Rove enter a church without bursting into flames?

Comparing Rove to Machiavelli is as ridiculous as comparing Bush to JFK or Einstein..... Rove is not a winner. Not successful.... all he did was ride a wave of failings until it could carry him no further.... and now he is only relevant as someone to shoulder a considerable portion of the blame for death, destruction, defamation and dishonesty that is the legacy of this Administration.
Nobody thinks of Rove or Dubya or Cheney or Condi or most of the rest of the gang as "Patriots". These people are not considered to be noble and honorable statesmen. Their entire game is obfuscation and evasion of accountability and it has been coming back to roost. These people, like Gonzales, face the disdain of the entire planet and they are feeling it...
They are so bad that mainstream GOP are disowning them. Many GOP are doing everything possible to keep from being associated with the egregious behavior of their Executive. Funny how I haven't met a single self-admitted GOP that admits to voting for Bush in many, many months...

My first thought when I saw this was Soprano and mobsters. Passing information in church. "Karl, either ya go or we're gonna have to send you to Vince Foster."

Bush's exact words were "This day will I deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee that all the earth may know that there is a burning BUSH in the White House.

(With apologies to 1 Samuel 17:46)

What better place to try to exorcise the Devil himself than in a church??

I look forward to the day when the next president tells Bush that he needs to get lost.

Get lost, that's it. No, you can do better than that.

How fitting for Karl Rove to meet his end in the very place he sought to manipulate people.

Poor Karl. And he is such a good and ethical and moral person. He really deserved better. Like, say, a trial and jail time so he could be alone with his thoughts (and Bubba).

Bush is scared of Rove and anyone smarter than him. That's why he can't really stand up to Cheney and couldn't get rid of Rumsfeld and all the rest until it was obvious they had to go. With this in mind, how he ran over McCain like roadkill in 2000 (and bullied him ever since) should bear further investigation.

Which explains his tough guy act. It's a cover. It's standard for insecure people.
