Gina Gershon Breaks Silence On Vanity Fair's Link To Bill Clinton: "A Crazy, Outrageous Lie" (VIDEO)

Gina Gershon broke her silence and spoke out about the Vanity Fair article that linked her to Bill Clinton. Promoting her Broadway play "Boeing Boeing," Gershon appeared on Monday's "Live with Regis and Kelly." With Mario Lopez in for Regis, Gershon told the hosts her side of the story.

"It is such a crazy, outrageous lie that has nothing to do with me... Journalists, it's so scary, because they get these rumors, hearsay, put it in the story, and it goes around the world in a minute... Vanity Fair never even did fact checking.... These irresponsible journalists - they're not accountable for anything."

Through her lawyers, Gershon asked Vanity Fair for a retraction and correction last week, a request Vanity Fair denied.

He's no more likely than Eliot Spitzer to try anything now, with all the eyes focused on his every movement.

Truth is a fool-proof defense against slander. Besides, who exactly is it slandering? Bill probably couldn't get better and Gershon needs all the publicity she can get. I'm sure she wasn't on Regis and Kelly for her "latest project" -- if she has one.

Vanity Fair has such a great reputation in other areas of their opinion and reporting. It is a shame that they didn't vet this article completely. This will tarnish a reputation that has been way positive lately. People are moving away from print and toward online presentations. Perhaps the bean counters at VF are feeling the heat, so they will desperately publish rumor as fact. Shame, shame, shame.

The best way to handle it would have been to let it lie. The story would have died on its own, but no.
